The Only One For Me
The Perfect Brother
This chapter will be written in D.W. POV
It was the weekend of May 24th 1998. The weekend I had been dreading all week. Arthur's friend, Alan or should I say the Brain was coming to stay with us . And I didn't care too much for Arthur's friends. Buster was dumb, Francine was too nosy and Binky was ok when he was teaching me how to dance, but other than that all he cared about was wrestling and burping, eww. Muffy was the only one of Arthur's friends I found tolerable. Wait, actually more than tolerable, I liked her and I saw myself being like her when I grew up. I tried to go to Grandma Thora's for the weekend, but she was out of town. The doorbell sounds on this Friday Afternoon and I think to myself, Oh brother, here goes nothing. I go downstairs to greet the Brain, who quickly goes up to Arthur's room to unpack .
I don't come out of my room again until dinner time and much to my surprise It is pleasant. While I thought he and Arthur would be rambling on about Moronic Bunny or some other dumb stuff, he is actually very polite and doesn't stuff food in his mouth like Arthur. It's probably a little too soon to say, but maybe this weekend won't be as bad as I thought.
Soon I am in bed and drifting off to sleep and the next morning we're all up pretty early. After breakfast I go out into the yard to see what my brother and Alan are up to. I see that they are teaching Pal some new tricks, I should really say the Brain is teaching Pal tricks because he's the only one Pal's listening to. Arthur seems disappointed by this and goes inside. While I stay outside with the Brain and he actually offers to read to me. Arthur never does this unless it's out of a bribe. And it is so much fun because he acts out the story and gets into the characters' voices. Unlike Arthur who is so unenthusiastic when he reads almost as if you could tell he's only doing it so I won't tell on him later. By now I'm beginning to become fond of the Brain.
Later on Dad tell's Arthur to go upstairs and finish his homework, and the Brain plays a game with us. He didn't rush through it and read all the rules and playing it with him was so much more fun than it ever was with Arthur. I sat there astonished and completely mesmerized by all the things Alan did, knew and showed me.
Before I knew it I was back in bed about to drift off to sleep again. A little sad that Alan would be leaving in the morning, but happy about the fun day we had. In the morning I heard a car horn beep and I went down stairs to say goodbye to Brain before he left. Which was rather quickly since Arthur was rushing him out of the house. After he left I stood by the door thinking I hope he comes to stay with us for another weekend, and that's how Brain became my favorite of Arthur's friends.
