Lullaby

Lullaby

"Luna!" Alex, a young brunette with emerald green eyes, wailed. Sure, he was a teenager, he was mature, and he was old enough to take care of himself... But he was a teenager with the flu. Therefore he acted one third of his age.

"Luna!" he called again.

"Alex, calm down. You'll be giving Luna a heart attack." Alex's handy-dandy flying cat hissed. He perked his ears up then added, "On second thought, keep going! Maybe then she'll tell me to stop--"

"Eating the fish." A girl finished and glared at the creature.

"Eh… Jeez, Alex! Have no respect! Luna's been slaving away in the kitchen to fix you chicken soup and all you can do is whine, whine, whine." The flying furball then turned to look at the girl. "Oh Luna! I didn't see you there! I was just telling Alex how he should--"

"Can it, Nall." She glared. It was a glare to shut anybody up. The girl walked to the edge of Alex's bed and set down a bowl of soup on his nightstand.

"Thanks, Luna…" Alex said innocently.

She sat down and straightened her yellow skirt, "Sure, sure. You'd do the same for me… right?"

"R-Right." He nodded assertively.

"After that bowl of stew, maybe you should get some sleep." Her fingers combed the boy's brown hair.

"That's going to far. I don't need naps."

"Hush up. Every ill person needs some sleep." Luna said comfortingly. Her voice was soothing and calm. It was enough to make the boy drop the soup and drift to sleep. But being sick, he developed the stubborn child routine all over again. He refused to close his eyes after the soup was all gone.

"Stop acting like a baby." Luna warned.

"I'm not!"

"Yes you are."

"Am not."

"Are to."

"Am not."

"Are to, are to, are to."

"Am not times--" Alex chuckled, "I give up. But I still won't go to sleep. Really, I'm wide awake."

"Dear, sweet lullaby." Luna started to sing in his ear.

"No-no, don't do that, Luna."

"Soothing lullaby."

"Luna…!"

"Send my Alex to sleep."

"Luna!" he groaned and hid his head under the blanket.

"Long, slow lullaby, tranquil lullaby." The blue-haired girl pulled down the blanket and stroked his hair. "Little Alex has gone to bed. Send him a dream and the love I have said. Dear, sweet lullaby--"

Alex glared at her. "I'm not falling for a stupid baby song."

"You used to enjoy me singing that to that little girl."

"But not to me!"

"You really are stubborn." Luna brushed her lips against his forehead.

"…Sing another song, Luna." Alex pleaded like a child.

This made the girl smile. She sat down beside him and tilted her head against his. "When all the stars are shining… so brightly in the sky. You know that I will be there… a-waiting that goodbye. So do not hesitate to… hold my hand. Our love is a forever circle… like a golden band. That promise you gave me… …"

She stopped her song and looked at Alex. His cheeks were flushed with heat and he was pale from the flu. Lovingly, Luna kissed him on the head and fluffed his pillows.

"Child-like he may be, but he's still the caring kind."

"Aw, Luna! Sing me a lullaby. I can't get to sleep." Nall perched himself on her shoulder.

"You're not sick." She said and stood up.

"So?" he asked, "What makes him more special than I?"

"Nall, stop complaining."

"But really! He was disrespecting you and-and--"

Luna shoved the cat off her shoulder and walked out of the room. Before leaving, she turned around to look at her tired love. "Have a good rest, Sleepy Head."

I just had to write a story 'bout Lunar. I absolutely adore that game… so it's about time I wrote one. I know it's kind of weird. But I just had to write it. Read, review, insult. Whichever. Just let me know you read it. ^-^
