Three's A Crowd
Back in the old days, we were a great team, him and me. An absolute perfect match.
For years, we spent every waking minute of the day with each other, went on missions together, cheered through wins and suffered through losses. We stayed together after the team was ripped apart. It was such a wonderful time when it was just him and me.
And then, one day, he came home… and he wasn't alone. She was with him. From that day on, everything changed. All of a sudden, she had become his "number one" while I had to be content with taking the backseat. I should have seen it coming, though. Since he met her, he's been very interested in her. I've often seen him look at her with more than just friendship. It took her a few months to admit she felt the same way about him
Now she's his partner instead of me, and I can even understand that. She's much more capable for the operations he participates in. She can handle their weapons much better than I could dream of, and her intelligence skills are nothing to be trifled with. There is so much she can do that I can't.
The worst thing for me is, I can't even be mad about all of it, because I see how happy it makes him to have her around. Besides… she actually even looks out for me and makes sure that my needs are being fulfilled too. But it still doesn't change the fact that she's taking him away from me. Though… I do have my ways to make him spend some time with me… even he doesn't know – or want – it.
"Shiver me timbers… where are my blasted keys?" he asks himself, turning over the cushions on the couch. Well, he could ask me, since I do know where the keys are, having hidden him myself. Fortunately he never suspected me. He always thinks he misplaced them himself. I don't like doing this, but I will for as long as I have to, until he either remembers I'm still there too or until their relationship comes to an end and it's just him and me again, just like in the old times.
Oh, here he comes, probably he'll ask me if I'd seen where he'd put his keys.
"Have you seen where I put my car keys, Polly?"
