Hey, as you can probably tell if you look at my profile, this is my first (and probably only) Psych fic...all of mine so far have been Maximum Ride, one of the absolute best book series in the ENTIRE world. I'm obsessed. Anyway, I'm also a dedicated Psych-watcher, if not fic-reader, and I just had to write this alternate ending. Other people have done things kinda similar, what with the alternate ending to this episode, but not quite exactly what I did...I hope. Lol. Ok, so, enjoy:)

Who Cares?

It was late in the evening; the station was dark, barely lit by a few lights here and there. Mostly empty, too. Juliet was gathering her belongings together—another case wrapped up, time to go home. Thinking about the case, her mistake, and how it all turned out, she barely noticed him until he was right behind her.

Great detecting skills, she thought to herself sarcastically. But at least it was Shawn.

"Shawn," she said wonderingly, turning to look at him, and he paused. She really hadn't expected him to still be there. "Look, I really…screwed up today. And…I just want to say thank you for being there for me; it really meant a lot."

"It was a mistake," he said in a near whisper, coming a few steps closer to her. They were both speaking softly, though. Empty buildings tend to do that to you. "That's," he put his hand on her shoulder, "what friends are for."

Juliet glanced down at her right shoulder. She could feel the warmth of his hand seeping through to it. "Yeah…well…it's been a long day," she recovered, looking back up at Shawn. She knew she was implying that they both needed to leave, but she had to, even if she didn't want to.

"Well, I guess you…have to get home and…feed your…parrot," he said with a little almost-laugh. Was that a hint of bitterness she sensed in his tone, and laugh?

"Shawn, I don't have a parrot."

"Well," Shawn said, leaning in closer, "in that case…"

His mouth was so close to hers that she could feel his breath, hot on her lips. He was going to kiss her. What do I do?

"Shawn, what are you doing," she whispered, heart beating fast, voice wavering.

"Nothing."

"Really, because if you're doing what it looks like you're doing it's gonna be one of those things we were just talking about," she whispered all in a rush, barely able to concentrate on what she was saying.

"What's that?"

"A mistake."

"I agree, but that's clearly not what we're doing," Shawn whispered back, nodding his head slightly. Their noses were touching, when he nodded she could feel his face rubbing against hers.

"Okay." She was a bit relieved. "Really?" She swallowed hard, thinking of something else to say. "What do you say that we're doing?"

"I call it…very close talking," Shawn said in his customarily impudent manner.

Eyes half-closed, almost in a daze, Juliet answered him. "Ah, I see. Do you have anything else to say?"

He paused for a moment, pursing his lips in mock-thought. They were touching Juliet's upper lip and all she could think about was how much she wanted to close the nearly imperceptible space between them.

"Mmmmm," he said, shaking his head slightly. "No, I think I'm good for now."

He started to pull away. Suddenly Juliet's hands shot out and grabbed his head, pulling him back toward her.

"Hell with that," she whispered, crashing his smirk against her mouth. Much better.

Shawn pulled back, just barely. "What was that about mistakes?" he murmured.

"Nothing," Juliet murmured back.

Shawn pulled her into another kiss. What would everyone think of them? The only semicoherent thought going through her mind was, who cares?
