Monika smiled slightly though the sadness was clearly tinted in her eyes, "I love you." Her voice spoke volumes beyond what it should have been telling the other.
"Don't." Julchen's eyes spoke of an intense pain which she shoved towards the back of her eyes beyond what could be seen.
She loved Elizaveta if anyone was to be honest.
Since their worlds had been stuck for quite a while together, some relationships formed most notably Luciano and Feliciano and Julchen and Elizaveta.
Three worlds held together as if by string and yet that string shifted so much.
Monika smiled sadly, "I still love you."
"It doesn't mean that you have to say that." Julchen muttered, already accustomed to the ache in her heart whenever she heard that; she'd so desperately pushed towards something that the two of them were not ready for and ended up hurting Monika who could have so much more than their half-assed relationship but did not.
"Tell Elizaveta hi for me." It was as if the light had been sunk right out of her eyes though Julchen knew that this was how things had to go.
She knew that even if their relationship was perfect and free of scars that they could not be together; they were sisters and not more or could not be more.
Julchen loved Monika just as much, but she had to move on from her little sister, had to.
It hurt and always seemed to that Monika could not just try to move on too or that she'd not be single if she did.
Jules hated that painful paradox where there was no solution to it, but she knew that they could not be together and that Monika had always been the stronger one even when she was a kid.
The Prussian could not understand then why she did not move on. Certainly, Monika could.
May be there was no moving on from each other, but at that, Julchen shuddered and forced the thought away.
There must be a way to move on and forget about that doomed relationship from before.
All she wanted much like how Monika wanted was to go back to that time.
Julchen though fought to keep the past in the past and brushed the ache away behind closed doors.
They'd get through just a day more and hopefully many more before they caved, and she'd have to admit to liking her sister just more than she should, and time may form scars where none were before.
Julchen hoped that that would not happen anytime soon despite her feelings for her little sister.
Time never could stop true love.
