This fic isn't that good, but I was just really saddened by Carrie Fisher's passing, and wanted to write something with Leia. Please be kind.
Princess of our hearts
It's dark on Naboo. Han and Leia lay in their suite, holding each other but still not quite asleep. Han had chosen Naboo for their honeymoon so Leia would finally get to visit her mother's grave. The beautiful scenery also reminds him a little bit of Alderaan.
"How does it feel to be Mrs. Solo now?" he asks, a smirk on his face.
"Weird."
"Does this make me a prince now?" He whispers softly. She smiles, and snuggles closer to him.
"You're too much of a scoundrel to ever be a prince," she teases.
"Besides, I've no planet to rule over anymore, so technically I'm not even a princess."
Her sigh doesn't go unnoticed by him. He sits up, and turns her head to face him.
"Leia," he whispers. "If anyone in this whole galaxy is qualified to lead, it's you."
"And why is that?" She questions, but she is smiling at him.
"Because you're incredibly brilliant, loyal to a fault, and have the kindest heart."
"Tell me more of my virtues."
"You're also the bravest person I know."
He leans closer, placing his hand on her cheek.
"Leia," he whispers gently.
"Whether the rest of the world notices it or not, you're the best kind of person. You're perfect for me, always making me better.
"You'll always be a princess in my heart."
They embrace, and a tear falls down her face. "That's all I need to be."
The stars shine brightly above them, with a warm summer breeze that reminds her so much of her childhood. But right now, his arms feel more like home to her than Alderaan ever did. And that's all that matters.
…
For Carrie Fischer, who will always be a princess in our hearts.
