Frozen

The sun began to set and the lights in Tomeda below began to flicker on.
"No Mei Ling, You can't do this…." He stood there frozen as she backed closer to the ledge of the cliff. He reached out for her, but she reacted as if his touch would burn her.
"I'm sorry I can't do as you ask this time Li." She said taking another step back. "I've done everything for you, I just can't…I can't make you love me though." Turning to face the city below she sighed as the wind blew the tears away from her face.
Li stepped closer "Mei Ling, please don't do this." Again holding out his hand hoping this time she'd take it and he could pull her back, back to safety.
She turned and looked at him. * He looks so sad, maybe I shouldn't do this. But I have to stop the pain * "Your selfish Li!" and with that she jumped off the cliff.
Syaoran rushed forward, "Mei Ling!" He pulled out an incantation. "Wind!" but it was too late it only slowed her fall dragging it out for an eternity it seemed before she hit the ground with a sicking thud. He dropped to his knees. "This is my fault, all my fault." He though about following her off the cliff * that would fix everything right? No it wouldn't change anything. *
Li could hear the police sirens coming his way. So he ran, not wanting to explain what just happened to the police…or anyone else for that matter. He ran into the night. He ran from the guilt, the pain, from his own heart. He ran until he passed out from exhaustion; letting himself pass into a comfortable oblivion.
