Katara sat across the campfire from Aang. What was she supposed to do? Walk up to him and tell him she loved him. "This is a war, he has more important things to do," she thought to herself. She stared at the campfire. Avoiding Aang's eyes. Today was weird. They had kissed, and she had ran away. She didn't know what she had felt, but she knew now.
Flashback
"Hey, Katara ," Aang called her name. Katara turned around and saw Aang standing with his hands behind his back.
"Oh, hey Aang, what are you doing?" Katara had asked clueless. Aang stepped forward and pulled a Panda lily from behind his back.
"Katara I have been meaning to tell you for a while now, that...I...I. Like you, a lot," Aang stumbled out. Katara dropped the fruit she held in her hand. Aang stepped forward to give her the panda lily, but tripped on a log and landed on Katara.
"Um...I," Aang muttered. Then , without warning, Katara kissed him. Aang opened his ayes wide in shock.
"Katara, I love you," Aang told Katara as he drew away from her. He leaned down and went to kiss her again. Katara jumped up and backed off. Aang stood up and looked at Katara confused. She glanced at him and took off in a sprint.
End flashback
Katara stared at the embarrassed figure across from her. He hadn't said two words to her since this afternoon. It was that tiny fact that made her realized she loved him back. She missed his smile, his laughter, and his silly little attempts to make her notice him. After all they had been through she had never imagined she would fall in love with him. He was Aang. He was her best friend and he was the Avatar. She had acted on impulse when she had kissed him, but she had gotten scared when he said that he loved her. She sighed. How was she going to tell him how she truly felt. She looked over at him again. Aang's head was bent so low it looked as if his nose was touching the ground. She stifled a giggle. She looked at him; longing to be next to him cradled in his arms. Aang was only twelve, but he acted more mature than Sokka at times. Katara stood up and walked over to Aang. He shifted on the log a little. Katara sat next to him and laid her hand on his. Aang rose his head and met Katara's eyes. She gave him a warm smile.
"Aang about today, I,"Katara began.
"No Katara I understand it's best if we just stay friends," Aang interrupted her. He stood up to leave, but Katara pulled him back down.
"No, Aang what I did today was wrong," Katara said," I shouldn't have led you on that way."
"Katara, it is best if we stay friends, I understand," Aang said standing up again," There is a war going on, and I was thinking about trying to start a relationship." Katara stood up and spun Aang around to face her.
"Aang, I love you, too," Katara drew him into a kiss. His eyes closed in pleasure.
"WHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sokka yelled as he walked out of his tent.
