My Halves of the Mirror

If I were to be asked what I would see in the Mirror of Erised, I would not know the answer, simply because I want more than one thing. But I will start with the first.

I see a blonde girl, listening to the music, the talking, and the laughter in the room beyond.

She's waiting outside of the doors of the great hall with her five friends, soaking in every detail.

The doors open and they walk into the room. Everything is quiet now. They call her friends first, three of them got Gryffindor and two of them got Hufflepuff.

Then her enemies are called and all end up in Slytherin.

It's her turn now. She walks up to the chair and they placed an old dusty hat on her head.

She think to herself, Anything but Slytherin would be fine, I just wanted to be with my friends. She whispers her thoughts out loud.

Then the old hat spoke, which startled the girl. "Not Slytherin, hmm. You could do wonders for them, but no matter. You want to be with your friends, but which ones? I put them in two different Houses. Which one to chose? It will be….."

She wished for Gryffindor, her better friends were there. "GRYFFINDOR!" Gryffindor House cheered and welcomed the girl with hugs and handshakes as she went to be with her friends.

I am that blonde girl who got her letter to Hogwarts not a month ago and is in for the best time of her life. That is the very slightly lesser of the two things I want most. The greater of the two is a different story entirely. But I shall tell it anyways.

Again, I see a blonde girl. She is older now, but she is still the same person.

She is sitting under a weeping willow, braiding the branches.

She hears a twig break and looks up from her work.

There standing in front of her is a boy with brown hair and eyes bluer than the Caribbean. It was the boy she loved.

He walked towards her and offered his hand to help her up. He pulls her up off of the ground and they hold hands as they walk around the tree to a spot where they can sit and watch the sunset.

They sit down and the girl leans her head on his shoulder, and the boy laid his head on hers. They watched the setting sun.

As the sun set, they lifted their heads. And at the last second, right before the sun had gone down completely, they leaned over and kissed. The green leaved curtains closed in the wind so that none could see the pair anymore.

Again, the blonde girl is me. And the brown haired boy with the bluest eyes is the one I love. So you see, if I were to look in the Mirror of Erised, I would see two different things. In both I would see a blonde girl, but in one she'd be wearing Hogwarts robes and a hat upon her head in the Great Hall, and in the other she'd be in jeans and a T-shirt under a weeping willow in the arms of the boy she loves. I am different I this way. Most people will only see one thing in the Mirror of Erised, but my mirror is split. The two halves of my mirror. The two things I want, more than anything else, in this world.
