Chapter 1

Her hand was cold the Englishwoman bet, probably from standing outside for two hours. She hadn't sat down on the ground, just stand there her clothes sticking to her skin and her teeth chattering. She was strong, Alice would give her that, but she didn't seem to be worried for her own health. She might've been careless or she might be trying to prove something.
Alice's hands however were warm, the roasting teacup in her hands giving her an unfair advantage in that category. Alice's green eyes didn't move from the blonde's back, the simple hoodie and scarf she wore being the only thing protecting her and her clothes from freezing. Her clothes weren't much help as they were only a pair of jeans and a soft blue t-shirt.
Grabbing the smartphone beside her, Alice decided to text the woman again.
9:23 'You can come in you are aware, right?'
9:24 'Don't freeze out there'
9:27 'Your skin is turning as blue as your American flag. Come in'
9:35 'Just come in you dumb bint'
Waiting a bit more, the Englishwoman finished off her tea and had expected a reply, though nothing yet. And she was still standing out there waiting patiently.
It might have just been the cold or the short temper of the woman, but if the American didn't come in soon, she would go out there and take her by her hood and force her inside. Taking her teacup over, she set it in the sink on top of the other dishes as a silent reminder to do them tonight. She had been too busy with the other woman last night to help her.
Going back to the window seat, she saw the hoodie girl looking down the street. The only movement for the past two hours. A couple seconds later, a small car drove by, slowing down in front of her. The blonde opened the door and climbed in, throwing a glance at Alice.
Green eyes met blue for a brief second, and expecting her to get out and come in, Alice straightened up. Then the white door closed, racing off into the distance, so far that Alice couldn't make it out from the snow anymore.

Going into the bedroom, her feet stumbling and twisting in awkward ways, Alice closed the door before the sighed. Tears had stopped since an hour ago, her eyes becoming red and swelled from the tears that had already come and gone. The American had left her alone, to drink off her hangover misery with more liquor. It was only a plan for disaster.
And through out the whole night, she had yet to learn the girl's name. She only had brush offs or hasty kisses.
Flopping down on her bed, she stared at the ceiling, taking her wire rim glasses in her hand and laying them on her nightstand. Though not before her hand brushed against a texture that definitely wasn't mahogany. Grabbing it in her hand, crumpling it a bit, she squinted as she read the text.
Alice,
Last night was beautiful, I haven't seen anyone that proud and beautiful around me in quite a while. The thrill of meeting someone as gorgeous and as elegant as you was quite the enjoyment and made me not regret last night at all.
I'm sorry you'll probably never see me again, or that I left you with your hangover to deal with alone. I just hope I didn't mess up your tea while I made it, I've only learned from WikiHow. I hope someday we'll meet again, our paths crossing again and you'll still be as elegant and proper as a drunk can be.
- Emily
If tears hadn't failed her, she wouldn't have had to deal with dry gasping hiccups from dry heaving her lost tears. Rolling the letter up, she fell asleep, her mind thinking only of Emily and her body.
