This is based off my own ending of DA2 (to an extent) and listening to Mad World by Gary Jules in which I imagined the Champion beginning to lose it. How much loss can a person take before they break? This is a different tone from what I usually write and may be disturbing in spots. You have been warned. Constructive criticism is welcome so please leave a review.

I do not own the characters of BioWare I just like to play in their world. Thank you for reading.

' I'll love you forever.' she thought. For a moment Anders stopped and stared back at her, almost as if he had heard her. She broke eye contact for a moment at the darkening of his eyes and when she looked back up he was gone. Hawke quickly dispensed with the templar by slitting his throat with her dagger and earning her a face full of blood. Later she would allow Fenris to believe that it was Ander's blood he washed from her body that night before claiming her as his. She allowed him to. Allowed him to claim her and believe a lie. All because she was afraid of losing him. ' Maybe in another life.' Sometimes she pretended that this was another life and things would be happy, but then her real life would begin to press in from the outside. Those were the moments when she would break at times.

But now he knew. Dear Maker, he knew. Now her mage is here asking her to come with him. Fenris knows she lied to him. She sees it in his eyes and in the way he is beginning to glow. He often glowed for her while making love to her. The lyrium would pulse through her. She would ride the wave and encase them both within a cocoon of pleasure. Thank the Maker for magic. Thank the Maker for lyrium. Thank the Maker for Fenris.

She knew what she had to do. She had already lost Anders, but Fenris had always been there. She sidled up close to Anders and watched as jealousy and hatred burned through Fenris. She reached out to kiss him the same time her dagger slid home between Anders ribs. As he lay on the ground bleeding out Fenris came up behind her. "I don't know if I'm more angry that you lied to me or that I let down my guard and allowed myself to be lied to. I would have understood your decision no matter what, Hawke."

She cringed at the formal use of her name. " Maybe now you would but then, Fenris, you wouldn't have."

" You didn't give me the chance."

" I couldn't risk losing you. I'd already lost everyone else."

His glow intensified and she felt fear, but she also felt clarity for once and she welcomed the fear. His hand shot out and grabbed her and she felt a surge of energy shoot up through her body. A silent scream tore through her as pain mixed with pleasure and she was sure he was killing her. But he wasn't. She had chosen him. He could smell her arousal before he touched her and now it increased tenfold. She wished they were somewhere else. Anders' eyes were staring at her. 'Maybe in another life' she thought before breaking eye contact for a moment at the darkening of his eyes. And when she looked back up he was gone.
