Predestination

I lay on my back, my face towards the gray sky where I can see the sun disappearing finally behind the last rain cloud. The water falls on my face and the wind whips my hair and clothes around in silent protest. The sharp cliff rocks jab into my spine and skull, I feel my skin beginning to tear and bruises forming. My mind feels blank like there is a white noise overlapping everything. The cold rain stings my face soaking it with ice water; it distracts me for a while from the sensation of death creeping across the ground, through my sodden clothing and into my bones. At first I could hear the rain falling, the waves crashing and harsh battle cries; but now all is lost within the white. My vision begins to blur and my eye lids droop to the taunts and teases of a long awaited sleep. My skin prickles and now all I can feel is the sharp pain deep in my chest; these sensations tell me I am still alive but quickly fading. I am scared, terrified, I am unable to prevent my ending when I can feel its happening. A figure looms over me, I watch with sleepy eyes as it begins to sink beside me to it's' knees. I gasp in pain as the figure runs its hands across my chest where the pain originates from, who is this person deliberately hurting me? It lifts me up off the ground, the sharp rocks no longer bruising me, and finally I can see who holds me with such care. Warmth suddenly covers my face as my eyes fall onto his face and I break through the white noise. You came. My lips move but I couldn't hear my voice above the waves. Tears are filling his eyes and mixing with the rain as they fall on my cheeks. I watch as his lips move but I cannot hear his words, it baffles me until I realize that death has almost come and I don't have much time. I reach out with my mind to feel my arm, to move my hand even one finger. He notices and brings my hand up to his lips and I watch as he kisses them; my heart breaks when I cannot feel the touch from his skin on my own. I cannot speak. I mouth the words to him and he shakes his head a steady flow of tears now falling. My love I am dying. He clutches me closer and my breaths become shallow. I wish I could stay here in your arms forever. He clutches my hand to his face and never looks away from me; I smile up at the face of the man I love. The heartbreak is inevitable and essential to let go, I hope that one day he could and live happily. This man that held me now had given me a reason to live and a life full of happiness and love. I knew what the fatigue clouding my eyes was and I fought it best I could, knowing I couldn't for much longer. Natsu. He nodded his head. Be happy. I took one last look at him, his beauty shone through even when he looked so sad. Goodbye my love. I let the clouds behind my eyes push them closed and felt the white noise take over, it was slightly painful to feel the breath leave my body but then it was all gone.

I watched as Natsu held my body and screamed out my name, clutching at my lifeless body hoping it would wake me up. I saw the wound on my chest and cringed at how repulsive it really was. I stayed with him when Romeo came behind him and saw. I smiled at the young boy and blessed him a happy long life. Romeo called for help from Wendy who began making her way from the aftermath of battle. They had won but none were celebrating, my friends, family, and most beloved crowded around my body. Don't be sad, I said, live and be happy. Natsu turned his face to the sky and I placed my hands on either side of his cheeks. He didn't know but I was there, I kissed him gently on his lips and whispered in his ear. I know that one day we will meet again our love is that powerful. I drifted away from him and turned to the golden winged man who waited silently for me. Are you ready? I smiled back at Natsu and then at the Angel. Yes I am ready.
