The former Queen of the World looked up at the Perfect Soldier and the Braided Wonder sadly. She was, of course, completely unaware. For being so intelligent and diplomatic, she had a knack for missing the obvious. Or rather, the subtly obvious things, like the ever so slight smile that was currently playing in Heero's eyes, or the way Duo's lips were pink and a bit more swollen than usual. As always, she only had eyes for Heero's and what she swore was his pain and suffering. While it was true that none of the pilots would ever be entirely happy – who would after what they'd been through – there really was no particular need for her to start her mission to save the world with Heero. She could go save the world – hell, the universe – starting with some other poor soul who had been ravaged by war.

You had to admit, Heero was ravaged by war – and then some – but the small woman currently standing before him was not exactly the person that was going to save him from himself. Most likely it was the mess of hair standing beside him. And yes, that sounds ever so poetic, romantic, and just plain, well, disgustingly sweet, but it's not how you'd think. Relena Peacecraft wanted to embrace Heero and make his troubles go away with sympathy and hugs. While that's all great and dandy, the soldier had no use for her pity-filled love. He'd rather be helped with laughter and companionship, perhaps indirect conversations. Most of all, he wanted to feel like he was part of not only his road to recovery, but someone else's as well. Because Duo Maxwell was also affected, in the same exact way, you could say. It was merely the way they reacted to it that was truly different. Heero Yuy was indeed more stoic, programmed almost, and Duo was loud and reckless. So it was the way they showed their feelings and their reactions that were the true tells of their personalities. In this way they were the perfect compliments for each other.

This is precisely why, barely two minutes before, they had stumbled out of a room, looking slightly disheveled and red in the face. There had been a great deal of tension all day until Duo had pulled Heero in through a door and somehow the two had just gone for each other. Closed eyes, searching mouths, roaming hands. They had emerged somewhat messier than usual and had encountered the light-haired girl. They stood before her, Heero looking impassive, Duo slightly nervous. Relena heaved a dramatic sigh and eyed them wearily before speaking

"When are you two going to stop fighting?"

They attempted to look contrite as she turned and continued about her day. The two young men exchanged a quick glance before also returning to their business.

Thank the heavens for Relena's constant misinterpretations.
