John Winchester swore. He'd gotten off the highway one exit too late, and now was attempting to backtrack through residential neighborhoods.
John glanced in the rear view mirror at his slumbering sons. They had been on the road for twelve hours, with barely a break. And barely a complaint.
He slowed the Impala to let a group of kids cross. They laughed and yelled excitedly, tumbling into a backyard. John sniffed the distinctive scent of summer grilling and suntan lotion.
This life was not to be for him or his boys. Not today. There was still a demon to catch.
