His hands were sticky, red. Blood. He could feel her heartbeat, desperate and struggling under his hands. Her eyes were wide, chest heaving with gasping breaths.

"Stay with me, Bones." He commanded.

She was trying; he could see she was trying. She was clinging to life by the fingertips because he asked her to, but some in her eyes were dimming, her heart was beating faster, but her breaths didn't come as often.

"Don't let go!" He screamed, aware of the ambulance sirens. They were so close, but too far away at the same time. "Help is coming, you can't give up," he pleaded. You can't! Keep fighting, Bones!"

Tears ran down his face.

Tears ran down her face.

It was in that moment that they both knew. She knew and accepted. He knew and did not. Her breath locked in her throat, her heart drummed along, about to reach the last note. Her eyes were glazing over, the bright intelligence, life, soul that they had always had were fading. Booth couldn't make out the unique colours anymore. Her eyes were lost in a haze of death.

A final tear slid down her cheek, her eyes closed, her breath stopped, her heart thudded and then was silent.

This is set before she was pregnant. Found this in an old file.
