Tony sat alone in his apartment. His dad had left for real this time he had to get back to New York. Apparently the man he had left in charge had become ill and Senior needed to get back to take care of a few things. The two had agreed to meet up in the summer provided neither had an emergency at work. He had already cleared the time off with Vance and Gibbs. Tony was still feeling terrible about his behavior. Looking back he honestly didn't know what came over him. He wasn't some vengeful scrooge. His dad had just wanted to apologize and give him the ring. The same one he hoped to give to his own son one day. Tony had apologized up and down and Senior had accepted it but he still couldn't shake the guilt. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the knocking on his door until it became frantic. He jumped up and ran to the door. Slightly concerned that whoever was on the other end would break down the door before he got there. Tony opened the door a smile crossed his face when he saw who was on the other end.
"Oh hi Jack what are you doing in D.C.?" Tony asked.
"Just came by to visit Leroy." Jack replied.
"Oh then why aren't you at his place?" Tony asked.
"He had already gone on to the children's hospital to deliver the toys. I checked his address book that's how I know where you live." Jack replied.
"Alright come in." Tony replied.
Tony led Jack into the house and sat him on the couch.
"Can I get you a drink?" Tony asked.
"Just water please." Jack replied.
Tony nodded and walked into the kitchen. He returned a minute later with a glass of water for Jack and a soda for himself. He handed Jack the water and sat on the couch beside him.
"So I hear you made up with your dad." Jack said setting the glass on t coffee table.
"I hope so." Tony replied.
"He give you trouble?" Jack asked concerned.
"No I was the problem." Tony replied.
"What happened?" Jack asked.
"I made a huge ass out of myself because I was so cynical. I couldn't believe he really cared turns out he just wanted to give me the family ring." Tony explained.
"Oh I see." Jack replied.
"I'm such a massive jerk." Tony said.
"No you're not!" Jack argued.
"How do you figure?" Tony asked.
"Trust is a hard thing to gain back. Take me and LJ Moore for example we didn't talk for forty years because he violated my trust. Jeez My Leroy and I didn't talk for years because I violated his trust. If that case hadn't brought him to Stillwater I may have never made up with him." Jack explained.
"So it's not bad? I'm not the biggest dirt-bag on the planet?" Tony asked.
"Far from it." Jack assured.
"Thanks" Tony replied.
The door opened and Gibbs walked in.
"The kids loved their toys." He said sitting on the couch between Tony and Jack.
"Well that's great boss." Tony replied.
"How'd you know I was here Leroy?" Tony asked.
"I just had a feeling." Gibbs replied.
"Where's your dad DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked slightly irritated.
"There was an emergency guy put in charge got sick and he had to go back." Tony replied.
"Alright. Oh and Tony don't worry about how you treated your father. I didn't trust him much either." Gibbs replied.
Tony offered his boss a grateful look and the three men spent the rest of Christmas together.
