Oh fuck I haven't updated since September
Uh Happy New Years omg
I decided to rewrite this story, I didn't like it in a 'Dear Diary' form
so enjoy
Inoue Touko always had those strange little quirks about her.
Like how she ate ice-cream only when it was melted. Or how she could only fall asleep if she's on her stomach. Or how that she makes sure that her curtains are always straight and wrinkle free, otherwise she would take them down and fix it to her liking, no matter what time it was.
But one of the things she hated most about herself, would be the fact that she would research as much as she could on things at annoy her. The information she gained from all of that useless research, has occupied her brain for years upon years, never leaving her memory. Instead, things she actually wanted to know of slowly drifted into the depths of forget, never to be seen again. Like all of her embarrasing childhood pictures (she burned them all). She liked to think that the useless information just took too much space in her brain, causing her to be forgetful. It made her feel like she wasn't a strange human being.
What did make her feel strange, however, was the new boy who transferred into her class not too long ago.
His name was Kozato Enma. A simple loser who had been put in her class due to a random occurence of events she had no knowledge about. She never thought too much about him, really. He seemed like a quiet, gloomy kid (too gloomy in her opinion) who couldn't get enough courage to talk to anybody, which seemed a little strange to her.
Annoyingly strange.
That was when her strange habit of useless research began.
She would start out small at first. Using her club time (Namimori School Newspaper) as 'research' time. Quietly creeping around school grounds with paper and a pencil quickly jotting down notes of the boy as she went.
She even took a couple shots of him with the Newpaper Club's camera, but she would delete them later. They were amateur shots of course, it was a little hard for her to take them with that annoying snap noise that camera made when she took a picture (she decided she would study upon that too) and Enma quickly turning around to see if someone was there. A lot of them were quick and blurry, but she would work with them.
"Geez," Inoue said quietly to herself from behind a wall. "I can't believe I've been spending weeks upon weeks of my time on this Kozato kid." She let out a sigh and raised her camera for what seemed the millionth time. A small 'click' noise sounded, making her frown a bit. "So annoying," she huffed.
From experience, she had learned not to stay so close to him when taking notes or snapping photos. She learned to stay at least 1 meter away, and silent. She felt kind of cool that way. Sort of like a spy. Or a ninja! Either way, she wouldn't say anything about it outloud.
She watched as the red-headed male picked at his bandage a bit. Not quite enough to peel it off, but enough to make stupid picking noises. Inoue grabbed the pencil that was sitting on her ear and wrote another note. 'Has tendency to pick bandages.'
"Why do I even have a stupid habit to research trivial things like this? It's stupid," she whispered to herself. Putting the pencil in her mouth, she continued the rant. "It's not like he's anything special," she went on. "I mean sure, his hair is pretty cool, it doesn't seem like natural hair color but oddly, on him it does. And his eyes are cool too. They remind me of little compasses. But he's probably wearing contacts, they look a bit un-real for it to be natural."
She ran a hand through her shoulder-length black hair. "And his bandages. What's up with that? If he has actual wounds that's fine, but if he got em' a long time ago? That seems weird to keep it on. Does he have acne? Is it to hide acne? But his skin looks pretty clear... And he should really wear the uniform. You can't just wear your old school uniform at your new school! It's strange!"
Inoue let out a deep sigh. "I'm too caught up in this kid." She took the pencil out of her mouth, slightly covered in saliva ("Gross.") and put it along with her notepad in her pocket. She walked away, looking as natural as she could, as if she wasn't even there, avoiding eye contact. At the end of the day, she returned the camera back to her club, and left without a trace.
Luckily for her, Enma Kozato had no idea she was even there and that she may or may not have been stalking him for the past couple of weeks.
Unluckily for her, her research information has taken up most of her brain again, causing her to forget to delete the photos of Enma.
Sometime later in the Newspaper Club, a certain club manager decides to check the cameras, only to find pictures upon pictures of the new 'No-Good Transfer Student: Loser Enma'. The club manager shakes their head and slowly puts the camera down. "Where the fuck did these pictures of Kozato come from?"
