12 demigods stood outside two blue vans in a standoff to decide who would drive and ride in which. The twelve demigods were Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, Jason Grace, son of Jupiter, Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite, Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto, Frank Zhang, son of Mars, Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus, Isabel Rhodes, daughter of Hermes, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, daughter of Bellona, Thaila Grace, daughter of Zeus, Nico Di Angelo, son of Hades, and Will Solace, son of Apollo.

They were taking a summer trip around the US. It was originally Hazel's idea to see how New Orleans had changed. That was on the Argos II. Then it morphed to a round trip around the country. A saved sum of 50,000 dollars later, that idea was a reality. The vans, which would take them, was courtesy of Isabel's uncle, who had donated around 10% of their funds, not counting the vans, which he got from his rental van company.

Isabel lives with that uncle, and he knows about Demigods. So when she was Iris messaging her boyfriend, Leo Valdez, her uncle found out. When they had eventually raised up the money, They were all 21, and were in college in New Rome. They worked mortal jobs, so they would earn mortal money. They reached their goal in December, and when May of the next year rolled around, they were ready.

They would start in New York City, then go down the Eastern Seaboard( making stops to see places), then to New Orleans, Houston, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California(stopping at Camp Jupiter), then up the Western Seaboard, then around see more places, on their way home. It would take an estimated 2 months.
