Summary: A short ficklet, of the musings of Bill, regarding the last conversation between Bill and Karen- that took place during Season 5. B/K.

At the end of the day.
She smiled.
He admired her smile. Her real smile. He could never forget that beautiful smile of hers.
Her words had sounded sweeter by the hour. And the 'raincheck' she had spoken in reply, played beautifully off her tongue, her lips. Off her.
He had never realised how beautiful she was until the day was done- and as he looked at her for one last time that day, trying to deifier the actual person under the layered exterior.
How could one cover up such beauty behind the tight bun, the makeup and the harsh stares. He pondered a bit, maybe he should have known.
He knew everyone was always hiding something.
Whether it was something distasteful.
Or something beautiful.
In her case.
It was the latter.
