Remus slammed his hand on the desk in frustration. "What is wrong with them? Can't they see I'm happy?" he thought.

However, he knew that was the problem. He wasn't supposed to be happy. His grief hadn't lasted long enough for their decorum.

"To hell with everything!" he shouted, without meaning to open his mouth.

"Remus, what's wrong?" Tonks questioned in a pleading voice yet again, but received no answer. She had learned not to expect one.

Instead, Remus held her close, "To hell with everything…." he whispered in a calmer voice. They had each other now – they'd make it.
