Just a quick lil one shot after the Volume Five finale, nothing too big. Although, once I get HtbH and NML done, I may just do a RWBY/Gravity Falls crossover. What d'ya'll think?
As always, please enjoy and review!
Sun Wukong loved Blake Belladonna.
It wasn't too big a secret. Neptune had figured it out almost immediately, much to his embarrassment. Sun was sure Ruby, Weiss, and Yang knew, as did Ren, Nora, and maybe Jaune, the cinnamon roll. Sometimes, Blake would say things that made him think that maybe she knew as well. But whether she did or not, the subject was never broached between them.
Following her to Menagerie had been no small feat. Sure, Sun had stowed away before, but never while actively following someone. Especially if that someone had cat ears and was constantly on guard around people.
Blake had been less than pleased to see him, even slapping him. Nevertheless, he didn't give up, and she grudgingly allowed him to travel with her.
As Sun stayed with her, he fell even harder, and there was absolutely no denying the fact that God, he loved this faunus. What once had started out as an easily explained away crush had grown into something more.
Several times, he had to stop himself from reaching out to her, had to bury the instinct to hold and protect her. Blake wasn't one to have people covering for her, much less fighting her battles. It made her upset and angry, and Sun understood. After all, she had been through so many tradgedies and heartbreaks: Adam evolving into a monster, Illia staying with the White Fang as they took a darker road, and, most recently, the Battle for Beacon. She was too used to people changing and turning away from her, and that had made her put up walls.
Sun wanted to be the one to tear them down.
No, that was wrong. He had wanted to be the one to tear them down, past tense.
He had just been beaten to the punch.
Sun saw the way Blake looked at Yang, tears in her eyes as she apologized over and over, Yang unconscious. Blood leaking through the bandage on the stump that used to be a fully functioning arm.
He heard the way Blake spoke about her, both tentative and fond. Nervous to reunite, yet eager to see her again.
He witnessed how the two stared at each other across the battle field, Blake full of relief and hopefulness, Yang slightly unsure, but glad as well.
He watched as Team RWBY hugged, happily together again, and how Blake and Yang took a little longer to let go than the others.
Sun loves Blake.
That's why he said nothing and let her fall for another.
