Welcome to the first chapter of Hey Lincoln! As you already guessed, in the style of Mr. Animator's Sponge House, this is a rewrite of Hey Arnold episodes using Loud House characters in their place. For the first chapter, I decided to skip ahead a bit and start things off with Field Trip. Hope you all enjoy!
On a school bus heading into the city, Lincoln Loud was resting when his buddy Clyde said, "Nothing like a field trip, eh, Lincoln?"
Lincoln stirred awake, "Huh? What?" He looks out the window and asks, "Oh! Are we at the aquarium yet?"
Clyde responded, "Not yet."
On the bus, everyone was acting wild, with Boy Jordan swing on the overhead railing and Chandler blowing spit wads at students.
Clyde finishes, "But we better get there soon. Everyone's getting kind of restless."
Lincoln nods, "I'll say."
Sure enough, all the kids on the bus were acting crazy, impatiently waiting to get to their destination.
During the commotion, Chandler appears in the seat right in front of Lincoln and Clyde. He was holding a milk carton and says, "Look! I'm a whale!" He chugs down the milk, and after closing one of his nostrils, he blows milk out of his nose, similar to a whale's blowhole, and covered Lincoln and Clyde. As they both frowned, all the kids on the bus laughed at this.
Some time after, as the bus passes a newsstand, Clyde asks, "What do you mean you've never been to the aquarium?"
Lincoln answers, "Well, last time we went to the aquarium, we were in the first grade, and I was sick that day."
Clyde beamed, "Oh, it was great! They had this tide pool thing. Had those gross bat rays that you could touch!" He cringed, "It was slimy and disgusting!" He then smiled, "I went back nine times."
Rusty tells him, "They've got a penguin named Stuart who eats his own barf!"
Zach adds, "And Slimo, the sea snail, who can draw a replica of the Mona Lisa with his own mucus trail!" Zach shrugs, "Course, I can do that, too." Zach runs his arm under his nose, leaving a huge trail of mucus on it, and shows it to his pals, "See?"
Chandler mocked, "Dweeb!"
Clyde tells Lincoln, "And… they've got Lockjaw!"
This made all the kids cheer, "Yeah! Lockjaw!"
"Lockjaw?" Lincoln seemed confused, "Who's Lockjaw?"
After that question, the bus pulled into the entrance gate to the aquarium, and then got to the aquarium itself, which resembled a giant blue whale, with the front door inside of its mouth.
As expected, the school kids were all excited and rushed off the bus into the aquarium. Lincoln slowly followed behind, taking in the sight as he entered, "Wow…"
The hall of the aquarium was like a big, cylinder-like fish tank, with hundreds upon thousands of different aquatic life swimming through it. Fish, an octopus, even a seal! Lincoln was in awe of the place.
In the center, under a giant shark hanging form the ceiling, the kids gathered around a security guard. He welcomes them, "Welcome to the city aquarium. We have a few simple rules to follow. No feeding the fish. No tapping on the glass. No diving into the shark tank. No video cameras, no photography." He looks to someone in the crowd, "No sushi chefs!"
In the crowd, a Japanese man is shown, wearing an apron and holding a plate, and knowing he was outed, simply gave a sad grunt and sulked away.
As the guard went on, Lincoln asked Clyde, "So, who's Lockjaw?"
"Are you kidding me?" Clyde explained, "He's only the scariest sea monster in the ocean deep."
Zach told Lincoln, "If there was a battle between him and a giant squid, Lockjaw would win."
Liam told Lincoln, "I heard he can ram a boat and sink it!"
Clyde added, "I heard he can swallow a kid whole," He quivers, "And spit out the bones."
"Lockjaw, huh?" For a second, Lincoln looks amazed, but then smiled and said, "Cool."
The guard finishes, "No guns, no knives, no explosives, and most of all," He takes a skateboard away from one of the male students, "NO SKATEBOARDS!" He walks over to his indoor office, opens the door, and tossing it onto a giant pile of other skateboards.
Once that was done, the kids all looked around, gazing at the aquatic life that swam all about. Zach and Chandler were watching a hammerhead shark swim by, and Lincoln looks at it. He asks, "Hey, is that Lock Jaw?"
Chandler scoffs, "Yeah, right."
Over in another area, Girl Jordan and Stella were looking at a couple of moray eels when Lincoln asks, "Which one is Lockjaw?"
Girl Jordan turned to him and asked, "Are you kidding? Lockjaw could eat these guys for lunch!"
Just as it seemed Lincoln wouldn't get any answers to this Lockjaw mystery, he hears Clyde call out, "Hey, Lincoln!" He sees all the kids heading in one direction, "We're going to go see Lockjaw! Come on!"
Lincoln smiles and follows behind everyone, going to a small pool outside the building. There, the little pool had water and a small island, which housed a hut and a palm tree on it, as well as a sign that said "Lockjaw". All the kids were gathered around it, oohing and aahing, but Lincoln saw nothing, still curious about what everyone was so excited about.
Finally, someone pushed a button and an announcer said, "And now, presenting the Terror of the Deep. The ancient reptile whose ancestors date back over 150 million years! The Mighty Lockjaw!"
The kids all watch as something arose from out of the water. They cheer as a sea turtle shows itself, climbing onto the small island that was made just for him. However, this turtle looks quite sad, and his shell was covered in what looked like graffiti.
Suddenly, the kids all stopped cheering, and Lincoln asked in a disappointed tone, "That's Lockjaw?"
Chandler, who had been drinking a Flippee, scoffed at the turtle, "Big deal."
Zach said, "He seemed a lot bigger when we were in first grade."
Liam glared, "He's not so scary!"
"What a rip!" Chandler throws his Flippee at the turtle, hitting him on the shell and making the kids cheer and laugh, "Yes! I got him! Yes!"
Lockjaw slowly retreats back into the water as Liam proclaims, "That turtle really bites!"
As everyone laughed and jeered, Lincoln looks sad for the poor turtle. He leaves the group and takes the staircase into the underground section of the area. He sees the little windows that show Lockjaw whenever he's underwater, and he calls out, "Lockjaw?" He approaches an area where the sand at the bottom was being kicked up. "Hey, Lockjaw? Are you there?"
Almost on cue, the turtle approached the window, looking right at the white-haired Loud. Frowning, he asks, "Kids can be pretty mean, huh?"
Lockjaw placed his flipper on the glass, and Lincoln placed his hand on the glass, almost like he was trying to touch said flipper.
Back at home, Lincoln walks in and sees his sisters, excluding Leni, all eating something. Lynn Sr. welcomes him back by saying, "Hey, Lincoln! How was the field trip?"
Lincoln sighed, "It was fine, dad."
Lynn Sr. noticed, "Why so glum, chum?" He snaps his fingers, "I know!" He shows Lincoln a pan of chocolate turtles, "How's about a chocolate turtle, son? Just made them!"
Luna tells him, "Try one, dude!"
Luan joked, "They're turtle-ly delicious! Hahahahaha! Get it?"
Lincoln frowned, "No, thanks. I'm not hungry."
He makes his way upstairs and runs into Leni, who was wearing a green turtle neck sweater. She smiles, "Hi, Lincoln! What do you think of my new sweater?"
Lincoln sigh, "Looks great, Leni."
She explained, "It's a turtle neck! Which is weird, cause I'm pretty sure it couldn't fit on a turtle's neck."
After that, Lisa shows up, holding her glasses; one of the lenses looked cracked, "Dang glasses! Guess I'll just have to wear my old tortoise shell glasses for a while."
Lincoln sighed and sulked over to his room. He lies on his bed, looking up at the ceiling. However, said ceiling then seems to cause a giant white blob to form, turning into a replica of Lockjaw. He then turns to his side and sees Bun Bun sitting on his dresser. The ears on his head resemble Lockjaw's flipper, causing Bun Bun to turn into the underbelly of Lockjaw, who then began to swim upward, as if in water.
Lincoln, feeling bad, turns back onto his back, placing a pillow over his face. However, a knock at the door made him call out, "Who is it?"
Lana walked in, holding a saucer with some turtles on it, "Hey, Link! Dad saved you some turtles, in case you want them later."
"Thanks, Lana," He sighs, "I'm just not very hungry."
Lana placed the plate on his dresser and asked, "Is everything OK, Lincoln?"
Lincoln removed the pillow from his face and stood up, "I don't know, Lana. It's just…" He asks his little sister, "Let me ask you something, Lana? How would you feel if you were living in the ocean, and some scientist captured you and put you in a tank?"
Lana grinned, "Is that a promise!?"
Lincoln said, "Lana, seriously." Lincoln explains, "You see, we went to the aquarium today."
Lana beamed, "Oh, I love that place! I remember we went there a few weeks ago on a field trip and saw Lockjaw! It was awesome!"
Lincoln shook his head, "That's just it, Lana. Have you noticed that Lockjaw's shell is all covered in graffiti?"
"Well… it was pretty hard to see over the wall," She nods, "But, yeah."
Lincoln nods, "Well, there's that, he's old, his water is dirty, kids throw stuff at him, his tank is too small." He sighs, "I feel really bad for the big guy."
Lana stood on Lincoln's bed and hollered, "What!? This is an outrage!" Lincoln gasped at Lana's sudden tone shift, "Treating a wise old creature like he's some sort of common criminal!?" Lana looks to Lincoln, "Lincoln! We've got to free that poor turtle!"
Lincoln shook his head, "I don't know, Lana. We could get in a lot of trouble. I mean, remember the frog fiasco?" He corrects himself, "The real one, not the fake one you made up."
"Yeah, but remember how well that turned out!" Hopps pops his head out of Lana's pocket, "Thanks to you, me, and Hopps, we saved those frogs, and it's time we helped another amphibious brother! What do you say?"
Lincoln thought it over and said, "You're right, Lana! Tonight, after everyone's asleep, we'll put Operation-Break-Into-The-Aquarium-and-Save-Lockjaw-and-Set-Him-Free-and-Also-Think-of-A-Shorter-Name-For-This-Operation into action!"
Lincoln and his little sister shake hands on it.
Later that night, once everyone was asleep, Lana and Lincoln rode Lincoln's bike all the way to the aquarium. Both were dressed in black, wearing beanies and turtle necks. The two Loud's were huffing and puffing, with Lincoln saying, "Next time… let's just take a bus."
Lana nodded, "Agreed."
As they put up Lincoln's bike, they sneak near the entrance and up to the guard's post just outside. Lincoln sneaks over and looks inside, "Good. The security guard must be making his rounds." He waves, "Let's go!"
He and Lana rush in, careful not to come across the guard. Once a bit inside, Lana told Lincoln, "Lead the way, Link. You know where the prisoner's cell is."
Lincoln nods and they make their way there, seeing the security guard doing something. He says, "Here, have a cookie!" He was shown feeding the penguin, and said penguin threw up, "Oh, you tossed your cookies!" As he laughed, Lana and Lincoln snuck behind him and he gives the penguin another, "Here, have a cookie." The penguin threw up once more and squawked, "Oh! You tossed your cookies, again!" He gives another hearty laugh.
Finally, Lincoln and Lana made it to Lockjaw's pool. Lincoln reaches through the gate and unlocks it, opening it wide. Lincoln approached the poor turtle and kneeled before it.
Lana takes a look at the place and goes, "Oh, man. You weren't kidding, Lincoln. This is worse than I thought."
"See. I told you."
Lana smiles, "Well! I know one thing that'll cheer him up!"
Some time later, Lana is shown using Hopps's tongue to clean and buff Lockjaw's shell. Lockjaw's head comes out of his shell a bit more, looking up at the two.
Lincoln smiles, "Lana, look! I think he's starting to trust us!"
"Good! Then we can get him out of here!"
Lincoln frowned, "I don't know, Lana. I know we're doing the right thing, but it's against the law."
Lana scoffed, "Against the law of man, maybe, but against the law of common decency and the animal kingdom? I think not!"
Lincoln looked to Lockjaw and assured him, "Don't worry, buddy. We're busting you out of this joint."
Lana snaps her fingers, "Now you're getting it, bro!"
That said, Lincoln and Lana tried to pick up the big turtle, but were having much difficulty in doing so.
Lincoln warned, "Careful, Lana. Don't get too close to his mouth."
Lana screams, showing her arm and her hand missing from her sleeve!
Lincoln screamed, "LANA!"
Lana pulls back the sleeve and chuckles, "Gotcha!" She laughs and says, "OK, Link! For real this time!"
Some time later, it was shown they were able to carry Lockjaw a somewhat short distance, reaching the gate to his pool. Lincoln accidently bumped a button, causing an announcer to say, "Lockjaw is a rare, endangered Galapagos Tortoise. He weighs well over 400 pounds."
Lana gives up and flops onto the turtle, "Well, he feels like a million!"
Lincoln smiled, "Wait here, Lana! I've got an idea!" He rushes off, leaving Lana by herself with the turtle. Lincoln returns, and Lana smiles, with Lincoln shown to have a skateboard.
Back inside, Lincoln and Lana are rushing out, Lockjaw on a skateboard and pushing him with ease.
The guard was distracted again, but was dunking his hand in the shark tank, pulling back up before the shark approaches him. He laughs, "Let's go, big shark! Come on, Jaws! Bite me!" He laughs again, but soon losses his balance, "Whoo!" He ironically falls right into the tank, the shark looking right at the guard.
Back with Lana and Lincoln, they rush out of the aquarium and take a sharp left turn towards a pier. As they push further onto the pier, Lincoln asks, "Are you sure he knows his way to the ocean?"
"Well, sure!" Lana explains, "It's instinct!
With one final push, the skateboard and Lockjaw go off the pier, splashing into the water below. The water was a bit murky and junky, with Lockjaw getting mud on his head.
Lana shouts, "RUN!" Lockjaw looks at her, "BE FREE!" This scares Lockjaw and he pokes his head back into his shell, "GO! LIVE AND LOVE AGAIN!"
Lockjaw pokes his head back out, his expression changing to that of determination as he treks through the water. Splashing his flipper in it, he looks off into the sunrise, swimming underneath and away from the junk floating in the water. Before he gets too far away, Lockjaw looks back, looking at Lincoln and Lana one last time before swimming off for good.
Lincoln looks to Lana, "Hey, Lana?"
"Yeah, Link?"
He kneels down and hugs his baby sister, "You're the best, little sis."
Lana hugs him back, "So are you, big bro." As the two watch the sunrise for a few seconds, Lana says, "Well, let's get going! All this exercise has given me a hankering for some turtle soup!"
As Lana walks back, Lincoln stands there for a few seconds, smiling and shaking his head at Lana's words.
