Teardrops On My Guitar

"Hey, do you know a nice, romantic restaurant? One that isn't busy on Fridays?" Finn asked as he approached Charlene.

"Not really. Why?" She answered with expectation.

"I need a place to take Amanda. Gotta run!" He said as he turned away. Charlene just stood there at her open locker. She looked like someone had just shut the door on her head.

Finn looks at me, I fake a smile so he can't see

What I want, what I need

And everything that we should be

"Yeah. I'll catch you later." She said.

Later that week she got a text from Willa.

'From: Willa

hey I'm with Amanda, shes tryin to plan her outfit for a date. what color do u think looks good on her?'

I'll bet she's beautiful

That girl he talks about

And she's got everything

That I have to live without

'From: Charlene

definitely blue'

Charlene replied, because that was how she felt.

That Monday at school, Amanda briefly approached Charlene to thank her.

"Omigosh! You were soooo right, blue is totally my color. Oh, it was so romantic, he told me he loved me!" She said before quickly hurrying off to her next class.

"I'm happy that your relationship is working out so well."

He says he's so in love

He's finally got it right

I wonder if he knows

He's all I think about at night

Charlene walked into the kitchen to meet her mom, with a tear streaked face and puffy red eyes. She went into the cabinet, grabbed the peanut butter and a spoon, and ran straight up to her room.

She spent the rest of the night crying, thinking about Finn, and scooping delicious peanut butter into her mouth. When her mother came in to check on her, she found her passed out and holding an empty jar.

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar

The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star

He's the song in the car I keep singing

Don't know why I do

On the bus the next morning, she sat alone. She didn't study, chat, or read. She just sat there, staring out the window.

She was thinking about Finn again.
