Everything began in freshman year, when I first met her.
She was sitting alone, and I didn't know her at all but I felt sorry for her so I came and sat next to her.
Then we started talking.
"Hey" I said. "I'm Kate"
She smiled at me and said "I'm Annie".
I smiled her back and asked "Where are you from?"
"Canada" she answered "I guess you're from here, right?"
We were spending every week together.
We had so much fun, but sometimes it was really annoying, cause we were arguing a lot.
There's some conflict between us that I will always remember, dispute which any girl can not ignore it- fight for a guy.
"So, are we going today?" Annie sent me a message.
"Not sure, call me later, x." I sent her back.
"Why?" She sent another message.
"'Cause I don't know if Ben is coming, he should call me about it."
"OK, let me know when he calls, x."
I got the message and started studying in my room. A few minutes later I got a call from Ben.
"Hey" He sounded very joyful.
"Hey" I said. "Are you coming to the cinema with us?"
"Sure" He answered. "You know why?"
"Why?" I wondered.
"Because of you."
I surprised, I didn't expect him to say it.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I kind of like you Kate."
"Cool." I had nothing to say instead of that silly word "cool".
"See you there, Kate" He said.
"Yeah"
"He's coming today." I wrote to Annie.
"OMG, is he?" She wrote me back.
"Yeah, why?"
"He's cute, I so want him to notice me one day."
I was so confused, I didn't know if to tell her about what's going on between me and him. I started writing "But he likes me…" and then I deleted it and wrote over again:
"Maybe one day…" I sent the message.
Annie, Ben and I were watching at the screen, and during the movie Ben sent me a message. "I like you". I didn't know what to answer so I ignored it.
At the end of the movie, when we were coming outside, Annie tried to make Ben like her.
"So, did you enjoy the movie?" Annie asked us gracefully.
"I haven't even finished my popcorn." Ben said.
Annie laughed.
I was sour.
Annie saw my face. "Is everything OK?" She asked me.
"Yeah, I'm fine…It's just my stomach, I guess I'll just go home" I lied.
"Oh" Ben said "Can I walk you home?"
"No, don't bother." I said and walked away.
Annie sent me a message at midnight:
"Guess what?"
"What?" I wrote back.
"Ben kissed me! xxx"
I was so freaked out, so I wrote her the next line:
"That's funny. Know why? 'cause he just said me that he likes –me."
Since then I've got so much messages and calls from Annie, but I didn't even bother to open them.
I couldn't understand my feeling.
'Why am I so mad about the connection between Ben and Annie? He's not even mine!'
A lot of things went through my head. 'I should've told her'.
We haven't spoke to each other for 2 weeks, but eventually we reconciled.
There are also so many good things that Annie and I did for the each other.
When her parents threw her from home. I still remember that call.
"Kate?"
"Annie, how's going?"
"Not my best day ever."
"Why? Is something wrong?"
"Kate, my parents threw me away…" She sobbed.
"What?! What do you mean?"
"They threw me from home" She started crying.
"Hey don't cry! Come to my place!"
"What?"
"You can live with me for a while."
"Are you kidding? I can't let you do that."
"I am serious. Pack your stuff and come here!" I insisted.
She always helped me, with everything.
When I broke my leg in 3 am she helped my family to take me to the hospital.
When a guy dumped me, she's been there for me.
I am so appreciating her for that!
She was amazing, always smiling, shining, frivolous, kind.
She was the best friend I've ever had. Till she committed suicide.
