A/N: A short drabble I wrote for a college class. Inspired by World Behind My Wall by Tokio Hotel. (Yes, technically this is legal because it does not mention real names, but I'm sure any Alien out there will get my underlying meaning. ^^)

The World Behind His Wall

In a Starbucks on a downtown street in Los Angeles, a young rockstar sits, legs crossed and his eyes concealed behind expensive, over-sized sunglasses. Dejectedly, he observes as people around him converge for their afternoon coffee, sipping their drinks while chatting with friends or pecking at their portable devices, unaware of the rest of the world.

Here, in California, no one recognizes him as the lead-singer of a famous European rock band. No one knows that he pursued his musical career prodigiously, leaving everything behind to live the life of his dreams. No one knows that the resulting money, massive fame and international success changed his life completely. No one knows him, not the crowd screaming and applauding rapturously, not the interviewers repeating their same, boring questions.

Because he is so famous, it is hard for him to trust people. During interviews, he canvases his thoughts, and paints the world a pretend picture of himself. In public, he always laughs and smiles, never dropping his happy image. But away from the flashing cameras, he is lonely. He has not been in love for a long time. Most girls don't want to know the person behind his public persona.

The right one for him is out there somewhere, he is sure of it. He hopes that someday he will meet someone who doesn't know him as the rich celebrity. Someday, maybe he will find someone he can trust, someone who will crumble the wall he built around his mind, and see the world hidden behind it.
