She paid no mind to the warning at first. After all, Jeremy is alive and, as far as she can tell, perfectly healthy. What possible consequences could there be?

It was ridiculously stupid to believe there wouldn't be repercussions. People are not supposed to be able to come back from the dead. Death is sacred and final. But vampires come back from the dead all the time, and they're all just fine, from what she can tell. It took a lot for her to realize that vampirism does come with consequences.

In any case, things are fine at first. Bonnie is working with Jeremy to help track down Stefan because, while she does not want to help vampires, she does want to help the defenseless humans being preyed on. Her, Elena, and Caroline are starting to get along again. And, even though the reality of Jeremy and Bonnie has set in with Elena, no one seems to feel the least bit uncomfortable.

But then Jeremy starts hanging out with Matt, and he starts trailing off in the middle of conversations to stare at walls. Bonnie lets it go because she figures he's grieving.

It's when she and Elena are in her bedroom and Jeremy starts screaming angrily and throwing things at walls that she starts to put the pieces together. That her boyfriend is yelling at thin air as if his ex-girlfriends are standing in front of him tips her off.

"What do they want?" she asks one night, the only light between them from a flickering candle.

Jeremy shrugs. "They're not sure…either that or they just don't want to share. They just seem to speak in riddles about power and the past and how we have no choices."

Bonnie files away the talk of their riddles. She doesn't know a lot about spirits—Grams never go that far—but she does know they possess knowledge of the future. At this point she is certain it isn't good news, but it is important to know anyway.

"The worst is that they blame me…for their deaths."

Bonnie's eyes go immediately to Jeremy's. "Neither of their deaths were your fault, no matter what they say."

Jeremy's eyes are so full of pain and fear that she shivers. "They say you're next."
