Title: No More
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or the show, this is just what I do in my spare time. (don't judge.)
A/N: Written back in January at the BARNEY/ROBIN DRABBLE-A-THON. Prompt by masterful_liar, The Dark Option.
A/N:I'm gonna kill you all for keeping me up but... I pick option 1. and might continue it later or something.
"Robin, what are you doing." Barney is frozen as he sees Robin Scherbatsky, she's holding a knife and examining it closely.
"I read somewhere that one cut here," she felt a part of her neck, "could have you out in a few minutes..."
"Robin, please put the knife down." Barney swallowed and tried to move into the kitchen without scarring her into doing anything.
"I can't do it anymore," she said tears quickly filling her eyes. "It's just not worth it."
"What are you talking about?" He watched as the woman he loved slowly brought the knife to her throat, reposition her grasp on it.
"Don't try and stop me, Barney."
"Robin, please, please don't. Jus-", his breathing quickened, "let's just talk about it okay." He tried to smile, but couldn't and instead felt his jaw tense up.
"I can't get a job, my dad hates me for being born, my mom's avoiding my calls; Ted's acting all weird around me, it's like he doesn't even wants to be friends anymore! Marshall even called me a robot, like I don't have any feelings or anything..." Barney shook his head slowly as she teared up, "Well maybe he's right."
"Robin, I'm begging, don't do this," he fell to his knees as he got closer to her. "Please, please don't."
"Why not! Give me one, ONE reason," she said preparing to plunge the knife into her throat.
"I'm in love with you."
"huh?...," she sniffled, tears still rolling down her cheeks. "You?" He nodded.
"Please don't do it. Because if you do," he said standing back up and gently prying the knife away, "Well then I'm gonna have to also."
"You love me?..." she quietly said still sniffling.
"And if I do, the blood'll ruin my suit," he cracked a smile, placing the knife back in the drawer, and managed to get a giggle out of her. "Come on, let's get a beer," he said rubbing the few tears which had escaped his eyes and trying to calm himself.
"Barney..."
"Hum?" She woke up to him and hugged him.
"Don't tell anyone..." She said, begging to cry again. He held for another minute, enjoying the softness of her hair and her warmth, before kissing her on her forehead. She reciprocated and before either knew what had happened they were making out on the couch.
The next morning Robin blamed hormones and her pitiful situation and believed Barney had told her he loved her as a friend in order to stop her. Barney blamed luck and himself for not explaining things fully in the morning.
