The Counselor

He was on his way to his quarters when he passed the moonpool and saw there none other than Lucas Wolenczak. This young smart guy was with his dolphin again. Half hidden behind a wall, the captain observed the pool. It wasn't seldom to see Lucas here, chatting and playing with the dolphin. On the contrary, it was really seldom to see him elsewhere.

In a special way, it has something reassuring to look at them, he thought. For a long time Lucas only sat at the moonpool without saying one word to Darwin. All he did was stroke the dolphin. But then they began to chat. They talked about the things that had happened that day on board the seaQuest, what they had had for lunch and dinner and many other little things. Darwin was really interested in the food of men so Lucas tried to explain him how their food tasted. How could an animal have that much interest in things of mankind? The captain had to smile when he thought about it.

His legs began to hurt from standing too long and he got to his quarter. He realized then that one hour was left. He took off his uniform and put on his tracksuit leggings and a t-shirt. After finishing his everyday fitness program and having a shower, he sat with a book on his lap but wasn't able to concentrate on his novel. He didn't have to think too long to see the reason for his inner restlessness.

After some considerations he wasn't able to any longer. He stood up and left the room. Carefully he looked around the corner. Wolenczak had left the moonpool. Now he was safe and put one on the bottom of the moonpool to enter it. The captain put his hands on the edge of the pool and waited. Darwin was definitely not on board. Surely he was outside. That would be typical. As long as he could remember, the animal withdrew whenever he entered. Why not? He had been against Darwin's presence on the seaQuest from the beginning.

Just as he decided to turn around and go, someone blew water out and the captain in a fine shower of rain. An unfamiliar smile appeared on the captain's hard face. "There you are!" He held his hand a little bit above the surface of the water until the dolphin came to him and he was able to touch his mouth.

"Captain Hudson want talk?", translated the vocoder.

"Yes, if you don't mind listening to me?"

"Darwin great listener!"

This was enough to know why everybody on board was crazy about the dolphin. Hudson sat down on one of the steps and started a long talk with Darwin. Darwin, whom Lucas had one day before to ask the captain to change his rang from ensign to counselor. Often, people only came to him to talk...

Something of my own business: As you all know, or maybe not, there are two chapters of my other story "please come home"left. I am currently working on the translation and hope to finish them by the end of July. AND I am working on two other translations, but these are longer stories and I fear I can't upload them before my exams are over in July. The stories are called "Dolphins Mind" and "Brody". Both are fanfics of the third season but in both fanfics I put one special character from the first season (beta wanted)
