For as long as I can remember, I've felt someone watching me. Since then, I've discovered it comes from an item given to me by my parents. Or parent, actually: my father specifically. It is a golden headband, but I think it's more like a head "ornament", really. It looks heavy, but it really isn't. The only decorations it has are its golden color and what my father called the "Eye of Ra" at the front. My father told me that people in ancient Egypt used to wear these sorts of things. My father and I had spent part of our life together in Egypt; he was an archeologist. He told me that the headband was a replica, and I believed him. For a while…
At first I hated the stupid thing. It had seemed too ugly and out of place in this time period. But I still wore it to make my father happy, even during the ridicule of my classmates. I soon grew used to wearing it, however, and when my father passed away, well---you get the idea. I wore it to remind me of him. I eventually had a chain installed at the back where a space was so that it makes a necklace. To this day, I still wear it.
It wasn't until later in my life that I came across the game of Duel Monsters. That's when things started to get weird. Now, as I look back on it, I think it was because of the headband. But I'm not even close to ten percent sure. That first year of my introduction to the cards was definitely strange to say the least. I eventually got roped into a duel where I won another kid's motorcycle! That's what I use to get around now that I have my license. That duel was not necessarily my fault; the other kid pushed me to it. That duel was one of the first of many to follow where I noticed the strange aura of my headband. And I still don't know how to explain my winning.
But then I met the boy named Yugi… and everything changed…
