I have been wanting to write this since I saw the fifth episode of the Future Arc. It's been such a long time since I have posted any fan fiction for any of my fandoms either. Hope this isn't too rusty!

Where did everything go wrong?

The time limit was about to end, and Seiko was wandering the halls. By now, her enhancement drug had worn off, leaving her with her normal appearance – except for her hair.

She sat down, leaning her back against the wall. She reached into the pocket of her jacket and pulled out one of the many drugs she had created over her life time. She had a useful talent – a talent of great importance that could cure the world of disease if she truly set her mind to it.

I just wanted to save everyone…

Seiko hugged herself and laid down on the cold floor. Rolling onto her back, she reached into her pocket once again. This time, she pulled out a piece of candy that her childhood friend had given her the day they had first met. Seiko could remember the day clearly. It had been raining. She tried to save the lives of two dogs that had been run over. Even though she had only been able to save one, Ruruka had been very impressed with what Seiko could do.

Seiko could never acknowledge the other girl's talent that way. She felt terrible every time she had to decline Ruruka's offers of her sweets. However, Seiko's illness and her medicine prevented her from having the chance.

She looked at the candy sadly, and then her lavender eyes looked at the countdown on her wristband. One more minute.

I just wanted to be friends…

Her fingers unwrapped the paper surrounding the candy, and Seiko took a few seconds to look at it.

Would it hurt? The doctors never said if the reaction would be painful or not…

Thirty seconds. She would have to do this now.

Seiko brought the candy to her mouth and ate it. Now, she understood why Izayoi was so addicted to them. Her sweets really were delicious.

Then the time limit went off, and it didn't hurt anymore.
