Disclaimer: I unfortunately do not own Gabu or Mei or any concept from Arashi No Yoru Ni. I only own the story. This Fic is rated M for hot gay Wolf Goat Yaoi and some graphic violence (possiably).
"We will always be together…"
It was those words, those exact words, which gave birth to something beautiful; like a flower, blossoming out from the ashes of hate and ignorance that surrounded it. A flower that bloomed an everlasting friendship, something that could never be vanquished, conquered or dimed from its vibrancy, even when all hope seemed to be lost. It was between a foe and fiend, land and sea, goat and wolf.
Just even the slightest thought of those days always left Mei smiling uncontrollably, ducking his head between his shoulders, with a soft pink blush arising from his cheeks. Mei cherished every minute of his life; every passing second was just another reminder of how lucky he was. Even with such an open heart and a compassionate personality, he could never have such an open and personal friendship with the exception of his closest companion: Gabu.
Neither of them could have ever imagined before that the two, predator and prey, would ever spend the rest of their lives together. It was like a dream, a surreal and flawless dream: endless fields of clovers, mountains of snow and ice, rivers nearly as clear as glass, and enough food for the both of them to last them an entire lifetime. The Green Forest, as they called it, was the final stage in their lives where it didn't matter who they are, weather or not predator or prey, it was the more important things in their lives that they cared about.
And that was each other.
Normally, Mei used to see Gabu as his enemy – a bloodthirsty monster that was out to kill him, out to eat his body for his own consumption. Wolves were meant to be his enemy, no more, no less.
Gabu, on the other hand, used to see Mei as his prey – just another creature pacing around the deep forest, just begging to be eaten. Goats were meant to be his meal, no more, no less.
The two used to share opposite lives, where the only contact their families had with each other was a battle between life and death – to be eaten or survive, to eat or starve. The tragedies that both sides encountered, was always left unheard by the opposing side. Many brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers lost between the ending battles between the feuding families.
"We met on a stormy night…"
Those few words left a small, unhindered crack between the seemingly everlasting feud between the two opposing species. But that small opening left a beam of light through the darkness, a sign of hope, friendship, and above all – love and mutual respect between the two. Afterwards, through all their suffering and torment, they were finally able to shear through the old irrational ideology that they both grew up upon. Goat and wolf, together they can become one.
And that is how life continued on for them.
It was… perfection… compared to their old lives.
