Just understand, please, I'm just slightly on a Skypiea kick. Also, this took, well, about less than an hour and very little effort, because I just wanted something fluffy and sappy. I'm a pioneer! Look at me Tennshi-san! Look! WiCo! Heehee!
I do not own One Piece.
Unexpected
She grew up always wanting the perfect wedding; like other girls, she had dreamed about it since childhood and knew every single minute detail by heart by the time she entered her teenaged years.
He, however, could have cared less if they were married in a mansion or a mud hut.
She dreamed of having an adorable little house with a picket fence, lovely garden and a backyard for the children to play in.
He was gone by the time someone said the word "adorable" and would be out of an earshot before "children"was uttered.
She fantasized about the type of family they would have: an elder son and a younger daughter, with some pets throughout the years as well.
He just wanted to concentrate on what was going on at the moment and worry about the future later.
She had been taught her entire life about how women should behave in a prim and proper manner, only raising their voices and stomping their feet if necessary, which she had already proven was doable.
He... really could not give a damn about how they acted.
She was all about a romantic and heart-felt love affair, something she had read in the novels at the little bookshop next to the butcher's.
He preferred just going to the butcher.
Some people never understood as to why they were in love.
Her father said it was to reconcile the past and atone for the sins on either side of the impending union.
His friends said that the spirits of their ancestors were possessing them.
Others said that it was final step in uniting two peoples who, until then, never understood one another.
All the couple knew was that they were in love.
She loved the way he had scowled and pouted when bed-ridden with substantial internal injuries.
He loved the way she looked at him, as if she knew there was something more to his gruff outward appearance.
She loved the refreshingly inept social mannerisms he possessed, for he was coarser than rubbing against snake scales.
He loved how he was able to take care of her physically with his fists, yet she was in charge when it came to talking things out.
She loved how in-tune with the outdoors he was, always close to the trees, the animals and the birds.
He loved how she was the closest thing there was to a princess on the entire island.
Her mind was complex.
His was simple.
She would sleep on the right side of the bed.
He would sleep on the left.
She healed all of his injuries.
He made sure no one injured her.
All in all, things felt as if they were complete the second they first kissed.
They were whole; two halves of the same unit.
When they had first met, they could not have been more different people.
Now, after the fall of a tyrant and a period of regrowth, they knew each other and nothing could change their minds.
No one expected it the day they ended up walking down Lovely Street hand-in-hand and saying that they had decided to become engaged.
Her father said it was a joyous event.
His friends said it was nothing but trouble
Others could never even start to understand it.
The couple understood it though, and that was fine by them.
