NOTE- This is my first attempt at a one shot. It was inspired by a piece of artwork so the story line technically isn't mine. This was in fact written by me. I'm not very good at writing. It's incredibly short. All the support is wonderful :)

Hungary POV

Gilbert had wanted me to meet with him, he said it was urgent; I've never heard him sound so serious about anything, so naturally I went.

The forest was as dull and murky as it was back then, a thick fog hung in the air making it hard to see anything past my nose. I stood still, waiting for Gilbert to give me one of his usual 'surprise' attacks, but I didn't receive one. A pair of small, crimson eyes emerged from the mist, getting larger as if they were coming towards me. Eventually they stopped and I saw the person behind the eyes; Gilbert Beilschmidt, the nation once known as Prussia, a cocky bad mouth who thinks highly of himself and lowly of others. He was a real dick. Instead of his usual smug grin and ambitious eyes, he looked sorrowful yet happy, a bittersweet mix that I have not seen on the Prussian's face before. I was momentarily confused, until I saw the problem. The right side of his body was slowly fading away, as if he was going to drift into the wind. I knew what this meant. I stared at him in disbelief, this couldn't be happening. Tears began to well up into my eyes as I dwelled into his.

As the fading spread almost halfway, he reached out to me with his free arm and presented a comforting smile. At this moment, tears began streaming down my face. Gilbert had always seen the light, even in the darkest of times.

I returned the gesture and pulled him into a hug. My arms clung to him in desperation as he held the back of my head. I could feel that more and more of him began to disappear. The feeling of another nation fading in your grasp was petrifying, it's like a mother holding her child until it's death. The air felt painstakingly cold and moist.

Sadness, despair, anger, it all spewed from me in one yell… Until I felt nothing; nothing but the icy mist surrounding me, and then I knew for sure that he was gone.
