For Steve, life was an adventure. But not the kind you're imagining, the Bear-Grylls type of adventure where you eat squirrel eyeballs. I'm talking the constantly-running, dodging-lava, you-could-die-any-second type of adventure.

You're probably thinking, Lava? Does this Steve guy live on a volcano?

Well then, you didn't look at the title. This story takes place in Minecraft.

Minecraft, where bow-wielding skeletons hid behind corners, their bones clattering in anticipation of fresh meat. Minecraft, where hissing green creepers sought to wreck your life. Minecraft, the greatest adventure of all.

I hope you enjoy this story. It's my first one, so don't judge.

JUDGMENT IS BAD.

(Steve POV)

I sprinted, my grey shoes pounding the stone of the same color. The cacophony of noise behind me seemed to be getting closer very instant, and I was too scared to look and see if it was.

My name is Steve, and I am a miner.

And I was just doing my job; spelunking for coal, iron, redstone, lapis, and even the occasional gold or diamond vein, when all of a sudden, the little cave opens out into what miners call a "wormhole". The massive expanse was full of monsters, and I didn't have time to count them all, because I was already running. But I could name the nastiest of the bunch.

Skeletons, with their deadly arrows.

Cave Spiders, venomous cousins of the much less dangerous Spider.

Two Endermen, the most powerful mob.

Now they were gaining, and I already had a few skelly arrows sticking out of my iron armor. I could hear the clicking of spider mandibles, and knew they were practically upon me. But then I saw my savior: My brother, Stephen, wearing enchanted iron armor and wielding a diamond sword. He was the brawler of my party, ready for anything. The first spider came around the corner, but at once, one of its eyes was replaced by an arrow. Diamond, the archer of the party, crouched in the shadows, another arrow already nocked. The rest of the mobs appeared, and I wished I'd counted them. There were a lot; too many to fight. I realized with a sinking feeling that I was going to die here.

So were my brother, and my best friend.

This was an extremely short chapter, and I'm sorry about that.
