Her fingers brush his as she hands him his coffee. He looks up, a smile twisting his lips for a moment before he takes the steaming cup . She smiles back even as she notes every detail in his face. His dark eyes, twinkling mischievously, the light shadow of stubble on his jaw, his charming smirk...
It's wrong. She knows it. It goes against everything she's been trained. But the way he makes her feel is impossible to deny, impossible to escape. God knows she's tried. Tried to fight what she feels, tried to ignore it, tried to forget it. It's too late, though. She's already falling. Falling for the one man she can never have.
At least no one else knows. No one sees the way she looks at him sometimes when she knows nobody's looking. No one else feels the way her heart skips when he leans over her shoulder to watch her work. No one else is aware of the way a brief touch, even the slightest innocent contact, affects her. She's been so careful to hide it. She's so sure that she's concealed it.
