The Doctor's Creed

Anyone's dream would be to be the doctors companion, but how does he feel about it? Why does he select only a few, even though it backfires on him each time? (This is relatively short. Am in the process of building a story, first chapter of many will be out soon.)

I am the Doctor. I see everything that can be and ever was and I know. I know you and him and I know you will die. So come with me, and live. I can show you the universe, time, galaxies, planets, races you could not imagine; just take my hand, and hop into the box. Grab my hand and come with me.

But if you do, you will die. I will kill you. Not personally, but it will be because of me. And if you want to come with me, when you die you must know that it was due to the hands of the person you trusted the most. Me.

So before you view the cosmos, think. Think of the burden you are giving yourself and I to carry. And while that burden will leave you when you die, it will stay with me for the rest of my sad, suffering life until it crushes me, which will not kill me but drag on my lonely existence.

Don't grab my hand.
