They have been dating since last year but there wasn't even once he, Tōshirō Hitsugaya had ever told her that he loved her. Every time they went for a date, he will buy her a locket and she will take the locket with a sad smile. Deep inside, she does not want the locket. All she ever wanted from him was to hear the three simple words from him.
One day, he asked her to marry him.
"Will you marry me, Karin?"
She closed her eyes slowly before she opened it again with a determination shone on her dark blue eyes. Her answer crushed his heart into tiny pieces.
"I'm sorry, Tōshirō"
The next day, he bought her a simple blue locket with a white pearl attached on top of it.
"This is for you Karin"
Slowly she took the locket from him and without any hesitation; she threw the locket away, secretly hoping that she can throw all their memories together with the locket. She shouted at him telling him what she truly wanted.
"I never want all this Tōshirō! All I ever wish is to hear is that you saying that you love me!"
She stopped shouting when she saw him slowly making his way past her before he bend down to pick up the locket.
"Please keep this, Karin"
"No, it's over between us. Get out of my life; I don't want to see you ever again."
She walked past him without giving him a second glance. The very next day he died in a car crashed. She hated herself when she said those unforgivable words to him and she wished that she could take it back.
"Please aniki…"
"Please tell her that I love her, and…,"
"And I'm sorry"
She cried when she knew that he had asked his brother to tell her that he loved her even though he was struggling with death itself at that moment. She cried when she knew what is carved behind the all the locket he had gave her.
"I love you Karin. My only angel"
