Gaz: this is a poem my mate Adele made-up but she gave me permission to post, enjoy.
Rem sat on a hill, it was the last hill she would ever sit on earth. She felt its smooth grass, then ran her hand over the cracking ground. She had less then an hour before she left this dying planet for good, over her shoulder was the aircraft that would take her away.
She looked down at her pad and wrote down a poem that made itself up in her head.
What happens when the world dies?
The grass won't grow, the birds won't fly.
The sky turns black, forever night,
The will is gone; we've lost the fight.
Depression starts and children cry.
Give us a better place.
Evil spreads and warring starts,
Plague takes hold; it breaks our hearts,
To see our world lying in death,
The life on this world breathes its last breath.
Give us a better place.
Even heaven is tainted; our spirits grow,
Into something more sinister then we ever showed,
There's no serenity, the world it on fire,
The evil thrives and reaches higher.
See what has happened to our only dream,
This is what we make of it, its shadow makes you scream.
We've denied our only chance of escape.
After re-reading it, Rem didn't know if she should be proud of this poem, or depressed that she thought up something so sad.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard "Rem? Hurry up! Or we'll leave without you!" it was Steve.
"Coming!" Rem yelled back. Rem ripped that poem out of her notepad, tore it up and released it into the wind. She had no real reason for doing this but it made her feel better as she raced off to join her fellow crewmembers on a new adventure.
Gaz: if your nice to me, and you enjoyed that poem, I might give you a few more of her poems, but only if your nice to me. RR
