The new Doctor rambled. It didn't take long for it to drive Rose's mother insane. In the middle of a diatribe on the strangeness of British food—"Beans on Toast, fish and chips …don't you ever eat anything by itself?"—Jackie finally snapped.
The next thing Rose knew, Jackie had suggested Rose go to the Tesco for milk, and maybe the Doctor would like to go with her? How Jackie had realized that the new Doctor couldn't resist the idea, Rose didn't know. He'd grinned like a little boy, bouncing on his toes, and declared eagerly that he'd never been in a Tesco, though they'd gone for milk in their adventures.
Now walking through the shop, Rose listened to the Doctor's chatter. The Christmas spirit seemed to have infected him or maybe his new personality was just like that. It was still hard to see the old Doctor in him.
"…a man who spent 3 years living in a shop. He only left because it was invaded by—Bananas!" he exclaimed, interrupting himself. He looked up at Rose and grinned broadly. "Can we get some bananas, Rose? Bananas are good!"
Rose grinned and she knew at last it was him.
