Summary: If he could only reach her once before it's too late, maybe the nightmares would stop.
It is the worst feeling in the galaxy. He can't reach her in time. Every night it's the same. He hears her screams, often manifested as his name. He runs. The distance is too great, his battered knees making him too slow. He can only imagine what they're doing to her to make her scream like that and make her forget the regulations that don't let her call him "Jack." His heart is broken. If he could only reach her once before it's too late, maybe the nightmares would stop. There's nothing keeping him from saving her, but distance.
Even without a weapon he could stop them. If only he could reach her. Even if he were the fastest human alive, she would die before he got there. He told her he would always be there, but he isn't. He tries, but he can't. When he reaches her, she's dead. He can't hold back his tears. She is lying in a pool of blood. Her beautiful face is scrapped and swollen. But worst of all are her eyes. The crystal, blue depths that shined like the Stargate, are empty, not seeing the strange world where her life was stolen away.
