"I'll try to arrange a fundraiser tomorrow," a handsome young man in a black school uniform assures to a group of his peers. A student with orange-colored hair passes and the young man pauses, then says, "but for now let's just go home and enjoy the rest of the day."
The group breaks up and the young man pads quietly down the hallway to catch up with the student that walked by him earlier.
"Yuki," the orange-topped young man states, as if Yuki had fallen from the sky to land at the young man's feet. But what with how silently Yuki appeared, that's probably how it felt to him.
"Kyo," he said, slowing his steps down to match the other boy's. They walk down the hallway in a steady, comfortable silence. Sunlight beams in from the windows lining their walk, warming their bodies with its hot, lazy fingers.
Yuki walks on one side of the hall and Kyo stays on the other, like two rivers flowing down the same mountain but never touching.
"Kagura's coming to visit this afternoon. She'll probably be there when we get home." Yuki turns his face towards Kyo, waiting to see his reaction.
"Joy. Thanks for the warning." Kyo scuffs his foot on the linoleum and sighs in defeat.
Through the years, creeks and streams have been reaching out from their rivers, edging closer and closer to each other.
The boys walk to the end of the hallway and turn the corner.
"Kyo! Yuki!" A voice calls out. They turn their heads simultaneously, and smiles don their faces subconsciously at the waving, smiling, sweet girl ahead of them. "Kagura's at the house! Isn't that wonderful? I hope she likes Tonkatsu Domburi!"
The rivers were now joined, flowing into the ocean that joins Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru.
