A/N: This is my interpretation of how Daryl might react in the situation of finding out where Carol is. I don't think he is going to go after her to be honest, but I pray that she will be back! Anyway enjoy.

When Daryl found out Carol was gone he didn't yell. He didn't fight or cuss or make the situation any worse than it was. He took a deep breath, nodded, and went straight to his cell. He didn't feel like fighting, he didn't have the energy to yell at Rick. It was like his throat was suddenly closed up. Like his heart had sunken all the way to his stomach. It was like he has forgotten how to breath; so he nodded, and left. After all, Rick made his own decision, just like Carol had.

He sits on his bed. Running his dry fingers through his hair and he is lost in his own mind. He thinks of Karen and David. He thinks of Tyresse. He thinks of Rick and finally he thinks of Carol. How could she do something like that? Take somebodies life when there are so few left? He's sitting on his made bed, his hands pulling on his white sheets and he is trying to force himself to agree with Rick's choice. She was a threat. She's a murderer. He's running it over and over in his mind with his eyes shut tight and for some reason the only thing he can see is Carol out there on her own.

"She was a threat…" Daryl doesn't even realize he's saying it out loud until someone interrupts him. Beth is standing at his cell, holding his arms with this wide eyed look she always has and she clears her throat as Daryl looks up at her.

"Hey." She says and he shakes his head, trying to act like he's fine and he nods to her. "I'm sorry, that Rick made Carol go away." Beth says, her voice as meek as always, but she's looking him straight in the eyes.

"She 'offed Karen and David," Daryl mutters, looking at the ground instead of Beth.

"I know that you care about her, a lot." Beth half smiles, and Daryl shrugs it off. "She was special to you, aren't you mad he left her by herself?"

"Karen and David are dead because of her."

"Billions of people are dead, Daryl." Beth reports flatly. "A lot of them for worse reason than Carol's. She cared more about are group than I think anyone did."

Daryl doesn't know what to say. He licks his lips and lets Beth's words resonate in him. She's leaning against the wall, wearing this blank face that's making Daryl think and again his heart sinks.

"She'll be fine."

Daryl finally says quickly, not believing it himself, but maybe if he said it enough he would start too.

"Will you be?"

"I used to think I would be the one to put her down. I should be the one to put her out of her misery, ya know?" Daryl starts, looking at Beth only for a minute before bringing his eyes to his hands. "She just wasn't built for this, she's was so sweet and fragile. I never thought she would make it. But now, she's so strong. People looked up to her, she protected people. Finally I started to think; shit, she's gonna make it. She doesn't need me to save her anymore. I didn't think this is how it would end."

"She's strong, you're right," Beth agreed. "But that doesn't mean she doesn't need you. She belongs here, by your side. By all of our sides, don't you think?"

She walks out before Daryl can think of something to say. And hours had passed and he tries to forget about her. He tries to focus on all the crazy shit that's going on, be there for everyone like he always is. But she creeps up on him, in the back of head. Will she ever go away?

It in the middle of the night, when he finally packs a bag, and goes to find the person that he needs the most.
