A/N Hey all. This is my first Naruto fic. This story starts with series of dabbles leading up to longer chapters and where the story really begins. I'm not very far into Shippeden so if I get an important plotline wrong please let me know. But as far as filling in the years that Tsunade and Shizune were gone from the Leaf Village I couldn't find anything and that's why I started this! I don't own Naruto.
Eleven
Shizune had been standing outside the house for nearly 20 minutes now. Just knock. The worst she can say is no. Finally the young kunoichi raised her hand to knock. Just as her fist was about to hit the door a kunai burst through. As it zoomed by it just missed her left ear. Stunned Shizune couldn't bring herself to move. Next thing she knew the door flew open. Shizune looked down.
"What the hell do you want kid?" Yelled the busty blonde. Who is this kid? She looks familiar. Shizune tried to remember the little speech she was going to give to the blonde. "Kid are you mute? Speak."
"Uh um. Madam I mean Lady Tsunade I heard from my father that in the near future that you would be leaving the leaf village."
"And why the hell is that any of your business?" The woman spat.
"Well um I was wondering if maybe... I mean I would be forever honored and eternally grateful if there was anyway that I could accompany you on your journey? I wish to become a medical ninja. Just like you! Well I mean I wouldn't be anywhere near as good as you but um... I wish to be your apprentice." Shizune bowed.
"What makes you think that you could be my appreciate? I am one of the legendary Sannin. What make you so special? Why should I trust you?"
Something about Tsunade's tone made Shizune's heart flare with anger for a moment and for the first since the kunai flew past her ear Shizune looked right into Tsunade's eyes. Tsunade froze finally realizing who was standing in front of her.
"Because we both have lost people we loved very dearly. I don't want to lose anyone else if I can help it." The young kunoichi's eye burned with passion.
"Shizune?"
"Yes." Shizune's face lit up. Tsunade looked away from her.
"Get out of here Shizune. You're too young and..." Tsunade looked away.
"I... I'd be a constant reminder of Dan wouldn't I? I didn't even think of that. I'm so stupid." Shizune's shoulders shook and tears started streaming down her face. The pain of losing Dan was still fresh in Shizune's heart. She could only imagine how Tsunade felt. "He's the whole reason I wanted to come with you. To honor him by serving and protecting you. That's all he ever wanted. But I never thought about myself being something to hurt you. I should have realized that. I'm so sorry Lady Tsunade. Please forgive my ignorance." Shizune turned to run from the Sannin. But before she could take her second step Tsunade's caught her wrist. Her grip was so strong but somehow just as gentle.
She turned Tsunade's head was down. "I'm sorry. Let's go talk." She let go of her wrist, "But wipe those tears from your face before you set foot in this house I'm tired of tears."
"Yes Lady Tsunade." Shizune replied as she wiped her tears with her sleeves. She glanced up at the Sannin just catching a flash of her face. There was a single tear falling.
