"Emma, dad is here!" Ella says as she opens the door to my room
"Wait a minute I just can't find my purse." I say looking everywhere "El , did you see my purse?"
"Yeah, it's downstairs with the rest of your stuff" She says as I pass through her.
"Hey dad!" I run for a hug "Sorry for making you wait."
"Well by now I think I'm used to it!"He says in a chuckle "So your mom and I are going in a car and you're going Ben and Ella in the other"
"Alright"
"I really don't understand you and Rachel, you barely talk to each other the whole year and this time of the year you're all like you've never been apart!"Ben says entering the conversation
"Why do we have to fake being a family every year?"I say putting my bag in the trunk
"Because your grandparents still don't know that your mom and I broke up, and if they do Dr. Green would kill me!"
"No he would not. You're just overeating ,I mean C'mon has been almost 5 years!"
" this conversation is starting to get a little annoying so if you could just get in the car and put an end to this conversation I'd really appreciate" he says closing the car door
"This conversation is not over!" I yell through the window.
"We'll see about that!" He says entering his car
After leaving Ella in her friend's house, Ben and I get into a deep silence as we still have two more hours of car ride I decide to break the ice "So, why are you spending Christmas, I mean you're 21 you must have better stuff to do."
"Well I'm not as popular as you think, and my mothers almost spelled me from my house so I had no choice!" He says in a chuckle "And you, why aren't you with your friends?"
"I refused being with them .I guess I just like fake being in a family sometimes"
"Do you know why your parents broke up?"
"I have no idea, the only thing I know is that one morning I woke up and saw my mom crying in the kitchen table, I asked what happened and she told me that she was really mad at dad and she didn't want to see him anymore"
"Oh, when I asked my dad why he told me that he had been really stupid for making the same mistake after all this years."
"Do you think he cheated in my mom?"
"Well it happened before!"
"Hey they were on a break!"I say offended
"Yeah, whatever."
"The only thing I know is that all this problems disappear completely this time of the year. They're all the time together, kissing and making out" I said picking my coat
"Do you think they have like a bonus night this time of the year?"
"Well I should warn you that I really don't like to think that about my parents , but I think they do."
" I'm almost sure they do , a few years ago I caught them in the act!"
"EWWWWWW! This conversation is starting to get a little disgusting, so good night!" I say as I put my coat over my head and lean in the window.
"Oh no you're not going to sleep now! Emma wake up! Do not leave driving alone, Emma!" Ben says shaking me
"Alright ! But let's just talk about something else!"I say taking the coat away
"Do you know if Jack and Erika are going to ?"
"I know Jack is going but I'm not sure if Erika is."
"Oh."
After almost an hour of pure boredom, I decide to propose something "Let's play a game!"
"No"
"Let's listen to music!"
"No"
"do you want to do something?"
"Nop"
"Alright so I think I am going to sleep now" I say with a nagging voice
"Don't !"
"So let's do something I'm bored"
"Alright I'll put some music on…."
