"You want to go back there? ...You want to go back in that body?

...Then I won't stop you."

As the suit of armor that contained his soul was dragged willingly back to the world and the fight, his words rang in the empty body's ears.

"I'm sorry! I'll be back!" he vowed. "Just wait a little longer! I swear I'll be back!"

"I promise! I promise..." echoed as the stone doors of the gate slammed shut, leaving the empty vessel alone once more.

The soulless body of Alphonse Elric turned away from the closed doors of the Gate, thinking to himself that he had heard those words once before, and was still waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.

He wondered if that vow would perhaps be forgotten, but quickly discarded that thought.

"He left behind the body that he had searched for for so long, to go and help his friends. My valiant noble soul..." A ghost of a smile graced pale lips and disappeared just as quickly. "As your vessel, I am very proud of you.

"But... with your selfless return, the world may be plunged into darkness and despair... My Alphonse." The body gazed evenly at the gate, tired golden eyes determined and hope cautiously renewed.

That was probably the shortest thing I've ever written.

I no own, you no sue. Comprende?
