"Daddy?"

The golden-haired young man looked down at his young son from his slumped over position at the kitchen table, "Huh?"

The smaller of the two golden-haired boys reached up his arms for the larger to pick him up. Ed proceeded to pick up his three-year old and settled him in his lap. Before Ed could ask his son what was the matter his son was asking him the very same thing, "Daddy, why do you look like you just drank a gallon of milk?"

The boy's father blinked sort of bewildered, "It's nothing you should worry yourself with. Just Mommy and Daddy not agreeing on something."

His son widened his eyes, as if waiting for a story. Ed only shook his head, "No Alex. There's no story to tell this time. No danger and no alchemy involved, you know that."

Alex looked disappointed, "Awww...but those stories are so fun."

Ed laughed, "Yes, well this disagreement is on a completely different topic."

And the curiosity came back, "What kind of topic?"

The older male just sighed and shook his head, "Why don't you go ask your Mommy? I'm not sure I'm allowed to tell you yet."

So the young boy left the room and ran up the stairs moments later. Ed just sat and thought. Why was Winry so happy about this? The more it occurred the more he could mess up. He just didn't understand why it was a good thing. Really! Things could go wrong and the chance of that made him even more nervous than the chance that everything would work out perfectly. He just couldn't see where anyone was winning in this situation. Why wasn't Winry scared about this? She was supposed to be more scared about it than he was and...

"Daddy!"

His thoughts were interrupted as his son bounded back in the room. "Daddy! Is it true? Is it really true?"

Ed couldn't even answer for the shock and excitement on his son's face. And neither of the two could speak before one's wife and the other's mother was in the door, "See? You're the only one worried about it."

Ed picked up his son but didn't take his eyes off his wife, "But what if something goes wrong?"

She crossed her arms, "They won't."

"You don't know that. Besides what if I mess up?"

"You haven't messed up yet now have you?"

"See? There is a key word in there. I haven't messed up yet. That doesn't mean I won't"

Winry shrugged, "Maybe, but I have faith that you won't mess up."

Before Ed could say anything else bright eyes and excitement interrupted him, "So it is true?"

Neither parent answered before they were both laughing and their son was wondering what so funny. Eventually the laughter died down and Ed was standing from his chair, "Here we are fighting and he's just waiting for an answer on whether it is true or not."

Alex wrapped his small arms around his father's neck, "So is it?"

Ed smiled down at his son, "Yes. Your Mommy wouldn't lie about something like that."

The small boy smiled real big, "Really?"

Winry kissed the top of his head, "Yes Alex. You're gonna have a baby sister."

Their son reached out for his Mom to hold him, "And I can look after her and protect her like Daddy does Mommy?"

Winry smiled at him, "Of course you can."

The smile on the boy's face only lasted a little bit longer, "Wait. But to be like Daddy won't I need a baby brother too?"

Said Dad groaned and sat back down in the kitchen chair, "I don't know how many times I can handle this."

Winry smiled at him, "Well I guess we'll have to find out."

And his face hit the table, "Oh no..."
