I Am
I am cynical but vulnerable
I wonder what my life could've been
I hear the beast laughing
I see myself being killed by a memory
I want to forget
I am cynical but vulnerable
I pretend it never happened
I feel the heat of my personal hell
I touch the pieces of my soul that were cut off
I worry for myself
I cry because I know there are others
I am cynical but vulnerable
I understand I was raped
I say nothing
I dream for me to be the last
I try to let out my pain
I hope for the wounds to heal
I am cynical but vulnerable
Disclaimer: I do not own speak it belongs to Laurie Halse Anderson
This is a poem we wrote in my English class it's a type of poem called an I am poem. We were supposed to write it from Melinda's point of view. Since I got an 100% I decided to post it.
