Her eyes felt heavy, her head even heavier. Slowly she tried to open her eyes, squinting against the bright white light above her. The only sound in her ears is the steady beeping of a monitor. Where was she? As her eyes adjusted, they landed on a hand grasping her own. Heavy metal rings adorned the fingers, smooth against her skin. Slowly she tried to raise her free hand, reaching for the aching spot on her head. Her fingers brushed the soft gauze, really noticing the pain and she let out a soft groan.
The man twitched, not bothering to open his eyes, knowing for certain it was just another damn noise coming from the hospital staff. How anyone managed to sleep here, he would never know. Only when her hand squeezed his own did his eyes fly open. Those beautiful blue eyes were looking back at him, eyes he never expected to see again.
"You...you're awake." He stated dumbfoundedly.
"She's awake." He muttered a little louder.
He jumped up, running to the door and poking his head out. Yelling to anyone that could hear him. "She's awake!"
He ran back to her, grabbing her hand once again and bringing it to his lips.
"Oh, baby. I never thought I'd see you again."
He looked to her face, tears filling his eyes, her beautiful voice filling his ears.
"I'm sorry, who are you?"
