Sometimes I Smile at The Little Things
"What, exactly, is going on here?" Damon asks.
Caroline looks up, innocent expression on her face.
"What do you mean?" her voice is sweet, high, and just a little bit nervous. After all, it's not every day your ex-boyfriend walks in on you playing cards with an original.
"I believe," Elijah Supplies, "He was inuring as to why you and I were playing...what did you say it was called?"
"Go-fish"
"Ah, yes. I believe Damon would like to know why you are playing Go-fish with me."
"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Damon says with a expression somewhere between annoyance and bewilderment.
"Oh, that's simple. You see, Elijah cam over to discuss transferring Klaus into a different body- apparently, the one he has now has some form of testicular cancer and he won't shut up about it- but because Bonnie isn't her he had to wait. So I offered to teach him go-fish."
"Oh. Right. Perfect sense. Hey, Blondie, a word?"
"Sorry, Damon, but it's my turn." she turns back to her game opponent, "got any sevens?"
"Go fish"
ooo
Damon next runs into them in England.
"Okay, barbie, whats the excuse this time?"
Caroline sighs and shoots Elijah an apologetic look.
"Excuse?" she asks.
"I believe Mr. Salvatore is under the impression you are hiding some sort of relationship from him, Caroline," Elijah supplies.
"Oh- in that case," she turns to Damon, "I'm not hiding anything. Elijah offered to show me Oxford over spring break. I think I'm going to apply here." she adds.
"Listen, we really need to talk this through, because-"
"Sorry, Damon, but we have lunch reservations. Shall we?"
she links hands with Elijah.
"Of course."
ooo
"Your Wedding?" Damon spits his bourbon out.
"Why does he sound so shocked?" Caroline wonders with an eye roll.
"It may have to do with the fact that he's rather in-denial about our relationship."
"Listen, Damon, I've got an eternity, and I want to spend it with Elijah, okay? And you really need to stop being so surprised. You could have seen it coming a mile away."
"Listen, I appreciate the invite, but have you-"
"Oh, gosh, that's the florist!" she answers her phone, "Elijah, we need to get this."
"Right,"
Damon really needs a drink- an eternity won't be enough time to get used to them.
