Chapter 1:

Welcome to the team

John Hakarti tried to take it all in. After years of training, he had finally made it into the CSI. No longer did they have branches. Now they were a world wide group based in New York. Of course they had little bases here and there. John was in the lounge looking at the top 5 agents they had to offer and Brass and Doc Robbins. Jim Brass was the homicide captain. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes. Doc Robbins was white-haired and had blue eyes as well. These were the only remaining members of the old team. All the old members had died. Except Gil Grissom who was now a famous singer known as 'The Booming Gil'. At least ¾ of the team had died peaceful deaths. The other quarter was not so lucky, starting off with Warrick Brown. But now John was looking at the new team. There was Hank Manaras who was tall, white and bald. Then there was his fraternal twin, James Manaras. He was short, black and had a massive, curly afro you could probably use as a trampoline. Then there was Sally Samons who had long blonde hair and deep green eyes. She was tall and athletic. The next person John's eyes drifted to were Martin Kialay who was tall and buff. The last person in the room was Kim Kellini who was almost identical to sally but had red straight hair and hazel eyes.

The top 5 agents of the CSI looked at the newcomer intently. They thought he looked pretty average which is a perfect appearance for the job. He wore long, denim jeans, a black tee-shirt that said 'AC DC rocks!' and had black, shaggy hair.

"Welcome to the team, Mr. Harkati," said Hank.

"Please, call me John," replied john as he shook Hank's hand.

"OK then. Nice to meet you John," said Hank. "I'm Ha…

"I know who you are!" said John eagerly.

This was when the team first realized that John was only around 21. Brass cleared his throat in a loud 'Ahem!'

"Come on, John. Let's get your badge," said Brass as he left through the door, beckoning for John to follow.

John said his farewells and joined Brass in the long hallway outside.

"Perhaps I'm getting a bit carried away," said John, blushing as they walked towards Brass' office.

"I understand. Why Hank was like that too. So was Warrick Brown and myself," said Brass as he rummaged through his pockets for his keys to his office.

"Yourself? I really didn't expect a feeling like this coming from you," John said as he tried to imagine a young Jim Brass reading getting over excited. It just wouldn't come to mind.

All Brass could do was laugh as he unlocked his door and turned the knob.

"Hey, is that a brass doorknob?" asked John, while smirking.

"Don't joke about my name you little squirt or I will smash your face in with a shovel and feed you to the wolves," said Brass in an angry voice.

John was hurt, scared and surprised at the same time.

"s-s-sor-sorry sir," said John in a trembly voice that was so quiet you could barely call it a voice.

"Hahahahaha! You fell for it! It was just a little joke," chuckled Brass. Actually chuckled is an understatement.

John felt both stunned and relieved. Brass rummaged around through some drawers and moved aside paperwork. Then eventually he had found what he was looking for. He handed it to John.

"John Harkati, I welcome you to the CSI".
